About this app

Google Messages is the official Google app for messaging. Google Messages is revolutionizing how a billion users connect and is powered by Rich Communication Services (RCS), the industry standard for texting that replaces SMS and MMS. With RCS, you can share high resolution photos and videos, enjoy dynamic group chats, and seamlessly connect with other RCS users including your iPhone friends.

• Rich Communication: Share high-quality photos and videos, see when friends are typing, and enjoy dynamic group chats that now seamlessly include your iPhone friends.
• Personal Touch: Make conversations uniquely yours with features like custom chat bubble colors or fun selfie gifs.
• Privacy Matters: Rest easy knowing your personal chats are protected with end-to-end encryption between Google Messages users, so no one (including Google and third parties) can read or view your messages and attachments except the person you’re messaging. Plus, enjoy advanced spam protection.
• AI-Powered Messaging: Craft the perfect message with Magic Compose suggestions and our latest AI features.
• Seamless Across Devices: Start a chat on your phone and continue it effortlessly on your tablet or computer. The app is also available on Wear OS.

Google Messages is more than just messaging; it's a richer, safer, and more expressive way to connect.

App is also available on Wear OS. Availability of RCS varies by region and carrier and a data plan may be required. Availability of features varies by market and device and sign up for beta testing may be required.

I was forced to switch to this because it was the only one that was supported by my samsung watch. Until this most recent update, things were just fine. Now I can't send pictures in group text, only individually. So annoying because I have several group messages where we share photos all the time. I tried all the help and support stuff, yet nothing worked. Just keeps saying "still sending"

Not very customizable. Tells you every time a message is RCS or SMS, which is super annoying when talking with people who don't have RCS. You have to touch every picture sent because it doesn't show the whole thing. It randomly decides to not have my contact names on message threads, so it looks like I don't know the person. I'm being forced to use it, and I hate it.

Hi, Marissa. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We're sorry to hear that. We'll pass this along to the team so they can continue iterating on your feedback to make Messages even better. We ask that you submit feedback within the Messages app by clicking the Menu > Help and Feedback > Send Feedback.

When adding a new contact, and you text the new contact messages received to the new contact before I sent a message actually show up after the message has been sent. That's personal information that nobody but the person who is receiving the texts shouldn't show up on my phone. Samsung Messaging was the best, but Samsung is dragging now. Cannot uninstall it, it was installed on the Samsung S-25 Ultra. I did try restarting it twice, but it still picks up texts to other recipients on my phone

Hi, Timothy. Can you try to uninstall and reinstall the Messages app itself? Open the Play Store app > search Messages app > Uninstall > Reinstall/Update. If this doesn't help, please visit our Community Forum for any additional assistance: https://goo.gle/2QL888m.
