Most players only stay active for about a week. You get tired of people abusing the city teleport item, drop their city right next to yours, quickly attack several times and then teleport away. So you can leave your phone for 10 minutes and return to find yourself wrecked and the enemy gone like a ninja before you have a chance to retaliate. This leaves you to either spend your resources in a shield bubble to recover or trying to chase the attacker into their territory. Teleports need cooldown!

Detailed game, but Top Games relies on heavy spending. It costs $2,000 USD to obtain castle decorations with buffs in the King's Party event. Most of the higher end gear and generals can only be obtained and fully unlocked by spending thousands of dollars in-game or trying to grind for years. I am 5 years in and still don't have a full set of civil gear. The game is fun, but more so because of the people you meet. The late stage game is very repetitive with rewards that barely impact your growth

The amount of pvp BS is overwhelming and has a steep learning curve. I'm sure the people who like it really enjoy it. I don't. Having generals captured, killed, constant attacks, and so many other things going on is not fun for me. The game is enjoyable enough to level up a d get rewards for other games but that's the only reason I continue to play. Once the reward timer is up I'm done with this game.
