Known as stud A.C. Slater, Mario Lopez's biceps drew plenty of attention on Saved by the Bell, but it was his distinctive hair that raised eyebrows. "I liked my hair long because I wanted to look like Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon," he told PEOPLE. "I didn't even know I had a mullet!"

In 2006, Lopez joined season 3 of Dancing with the Stars and went on to become well-known as a TV host: The two-time Emmy winner hosted Extra from 2008 to 2019 before moving to Access Hollywood, where he still works.

Lopez joined four of his five '90s costars on the short-lived Saved by the Bell reboot on Peacock, which was canceled in 2022 after two seasons.

He married actress Courtney Mazza in 2012; they share three children, Gia Francesca, Dominic Luciano and Santino Rafael.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar played the swoon-worthy Zack Morris, who always seemed to be getting into trouble, much to the chagrin of principal Mr. Richard Belding (Dennis Haskins).

After his turn as a high school heartthrob, Gosselaar starred in the 1998 movie Dead Man on Campus and appeared on NYPD Blue in the early aughts. He also had TV roles on Raising the Bar and Franklin & Bash, as well as Mixed-ish and the Saved by the Bell reboot. In 2023, he appeared on the ABC police procedural Will Trent.

Gosselaar has four kids, two with wife Catriona McGinn and two with ex-wife Lisa Ann Russell.

Tiffani Thiessen played Kelly Kapowski, a popular cheerleader who was one-half of Bayside High's golden couple (Zack being the other half).

When the show concluded, Thiessen joined the cast of Beverly Hills, 90210, in the role of Valerie Malone. From 2009 to 2014, she appeared on White Collar, and from 2015 to 2017, she hosted the Cooking Channel show Dinner at Tiffani's. Thiessen also appeared on Netflix's Alexa & Katie series before it was canceled in 2020 and has since hosted MTV's Deliciousness clip show.

She reprised her role as Kapowski (or, rather, Kapowski-Morris) on the Saved by the Bell reboot.

Thiessen has two children, Harper and Holt, with husband Brady Smith.

Lark Voorhies as Lisa Turtle

As fabulous fashionista Lisa Turtle, Lark Voorhies said acting on the show had its perks — as well as its downfalls.

"I wasn't able to go to my graduation or prom," said the actress, who graduated to stints on soaps and sitcoms before reuniting with her Saved by the Bell costar Dustin Diamond in the 2012 indie film Little Creeps. "Those moments we had to sacrifice, we made up for with each other."

Though it was initially reported that Voorhies would be excluded from the Saved by the Bell reboot — a decision she said "hurt" her — she did end up reprising her role for the show.

Voorhies married Jimmy Green in Las Vegas in 2015, but the couple filed for divorce after six months.

Elizabeth Berkley as Jessie Spano

ELIZABETH BERKLEY, 40 ELIZABETH BERKLEY, 40
Gavin Bond; NBC/Everett

Elizabeth Berkley had some of the show's most memorable moments as tightly wound feminist Jessie Spano. "The 'I'm so excited!' episode [when Jessie uses 'caffeine pills'] was so extreme," she said. And the hair! "I practically went through a can of hair spray a show."

Following the series, Berkley went on to star in the 1995 NC-17 rated film Showgirls. Though the movie is now a cult classic, she told PEOPLE in 2020 that the controversial erotic thriller made her a "pariah" in the industry.

Still, she landed roles in movies such as First Wives Club (1996), The Curse of the Jade Scorpion (2001), S. Darko (2009) and a slew of TV films. Berkley competed on season 17 of Dancing with the Stars in 2013. Berkley also wrote an advice book for young girls called Ask Elizabeth and was among the cast members who returned for the Saved by the Bell reboot.

Berkley has one child with her husband, artist and clothing designer Greg Lauren.

Dustin Diamond as Samuel "Screech" Powers

Post-Bell life was a bit tougher for Diamond, who played the gang's silly sidekick Screech. The comedian appeared on Celebrity Fit Club — and starred in an adult video leaked onto the Internet in 2006. He then dished the dirt on his former costars in a 2009 tell-all called Behind the Bell.

After a three-month stint in jail in 2016 — he was arrested for stabbing a man in 2014 during a street brawl in Wisconsin — he appeared on The Dr. Oz Show that November to apologize to his cast mates.

Diamond died on Feb. 1, 2021, due to carcinoma. "He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago," his rep told PEOPLE in a statement.

The rep added, "In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution. Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful."

The actor was 44 years old at the time of his death, and Diamond's girlfriend of one year, Tash Jules, was by his side, according to his longtime manager Roger Paul.
