Prince William made a relatable revelation about looking after his family’s lesser-known pet during a visit to a youth-focused farm.

On April 25, the Prince of Wales, 41, spoke about the animal care chore he winds up doing because his children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 6, reportedly forget! Prince William seemed charmed to meet a guinea pig named Snowflake in a video shared to X by Victoria Ward of The Telegraph, and the reporter revealed his hilarious insight.

"Prince William said he was so happy stroking Snowflake the guinea pig at Woodgate Valley Urban Farm, just outside Birmingham, that he didn’t want to leave. He revealed that his kids always forget to clean out their own guinea pig, leaving him to do it," Ward wrote.

"These guinea pigs are very well-loved, they look extremely cozy,” Prince William expertly said in the quick clip. "Hello, hi!" he warmly added when Snowflake was passed into his arms.

It’s well-known that Prince William, Kate Middleton and their kids have a black cocker spaniel named Orla, who previously joined Princess Charlotte for her birthday portraits the last two years and tagged along with the Prince and Princess of Wales to the Royal Charity Polo Cup last summer.

But Kate has also spoken about having another animal at home. While opening the Magic Garden children’s playground at Hampton Court Palace in 2016, the royal mom mentioned that her family had a hamster.

"She said she had a hamster, and Charlotte really likes it because the whiskers always tickle her face," a young girl named Darcey said, according to Hello! magazine.

The hamster was reportedly called Marvin and even went on to inspire the fan account @theroyalhamster on X (formerly known as Twitter). Blogger and writer Christine Frazier shared doodles and hilarious commentary imagining the hamster in some of Princess Kate’s previous outfits, from her runway moment at the University of St. Andrew’s to Trooping the Colour.

Prince William’s visit to Woodgate Valley Urban Farm was his second stop in the West Midlands on April 25, and he made the trip to learn more about various initiatives in the area that support mental health and wellbeing. The Prince of Wales began the day at St. Michael’s Church of England High School in Sandwell then moved to the small farm in Birmingham, where he met the guinea pig.

Woodgate Valley Farm offers a range of therapeutic programs for kids involving nature and animals, such as a care program to look after Grey Face Dartmoor Sheep. Participants receive one-on-one support at the small farm funded by the National Lottery, and the hub supports small groups currently out of education and sibling groups from a local children’s hospice. In 2023, Woodgate Valley Farm ran the All Age Autism through the NHS and Birmingham and Solihull Councils, which provided weekly sessions for youth diagnosed or self-identifying as autistic.

Prince William met staff, volunteers and some of the adorable animals as he toured the farm. The royal learned more about Woodgate Valley’s important work with kids and shadowed a session of typical activities.

Earlier in the day, the Prince of Wales also had his children on his mind when he received gifts for Princess Kate, 42, amid her cancer treatment on his way out of St. Michael's school.

Kerry Whitehouse, the school’s senior mental health lead, exclusively tells PEOPLE the well-wishes included Lego sunflowers because "building things is therapeutic and sunflowers represent happiness, positivity and strength."

"He thanked us and said the Lego would go down well in the house," she adds, with the royal likely referring to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Whitehouse says the haul also included something for the kids — crocheted "well-being worms" and positivity cards involving emotion wheels.

Prince William's school visit was all about the students' well-being and came after he stayed out of the public eye for several weeks after Princess Kate's announcement about her health on March 22, which coincided with their children's Easter break from school. The Princess of Wales may have strategically waited to share the news until her kids were out of the classroom to create space for their family to have private time together, and Prince William resumed public duties the day after George, Charlotte and Louis returned to school.
