Scott Hoying is reflecting on his wedding day.

Nearly a year ago, in July 2023, the Pentatonix singer exchanged vows with his husband, Mark Manio, in an intimate ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara, Calif., after six years of dating.

The couple's wedding featured all-white florals and a handwritten vow exchange beneath a baby’s breath archway. For the ceremony their friend, musician Christina Perri, officiated.

Later in the celebration, during the couple's first dance, Loren Allred performed "Never Enough" from The Greatest Showman, which Hoying told PEOPLE at the time the couple had "on repeat when they were first falling in love."

To this day, Hoying, 32, still considers this moment his favorite memory of the wedding.

"Loren is truly a highlight of our lives. I watch that video multiple times a week. It was amazing. The entire night was so unforgettable," the musician exclusively told PEOPLE at the 35th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York City on Saturday, May 12.

Ahead of their wedding last year, Hoying also told PEOPLE when he knew Mark Manio was the one before popping the question in the Bahamas in April 2022.

"I feel like all of our life experiences and choices, and ups and downs, have led us to each other and this is the moment where the people we love most get to see us truly make the leap," Hoying said. "I knew pretty early on that Mark was my dream man and I genuinely feel like the luckiest man on earth to get to marry him."

"Mark and I both have a deep love for the beach and the ocean and some of our favorite, romantic, lifelong memories together are by the beach," he added.

Now with their first wedding anniversary, the couple shared they're planning on going back to Santa Barbara, "where the wedding was," Hoying said.

They added how they're also excited for the release of their lyrical and picture book, How Lucky Am I?, which comes out May 21. Manio said, "It encapsulates our love story, so I guess that's also how we're celebrating."
