Love Is Blind’s Brittany and Kenneth Are 'Best Friends' After Split and Say Their Bond 'Will Never Die' (Exclusive)

The former pair confirmed during Wednesday's season 6 reunion that they're "extremely close" but aren't dating, and never considered having sex to add to their "crave" because "it didn’t really need to be tested out to figure out where we were at"

Warning: This story contains spoilers from the season 6 reunion of Love Is Blind.

Kenneth Gorman and Brittany Mills may not have tied the knot on Love Is Blind, but they remain the best of friends today.

During Wednesday's season 6 reunion, Kenneth and Brittany updated fans on their relationship today, noting that while they aren't back together romantically, they talk "every day" and are "extremely close" as friends.

"We're at a really good spot," Brittany said of her current relationship with her ex-fiancé.

Speaking to PEOPLE about the state of their friendship today, Brittany, 25, elaborates on just how close they are.

"Kenneth and I, after the experience, we ended on a very good note and we have remained very close friends," she says. "I can say that we talked, and it's natural and it's still organic and we're both there for one another."

"Actually the night that it happened and we decided to part ways, we decided, 'Hey, we were in this experience together, and that's something that's so important and so special, too. And we're not just going to throw that away,'" she continues. "And we have remained friends, and I'm really thankful for that."

Kenneth, 26, had a similar perspective while speaking to PEOPLE, saying he and Brittany are "best friends."

"We speak every day on the phone at this point. We share so many moments of just day-to-day life," he explains. "Every time something happens, we're like, 'Oh, I got to call Brittney.' She's like, 'Oh, I got to call Ken.' That is who we are."

"I think the love that we have for each other and the bond that we formed will never die," he adds. "I have so much respect for her, so much love for her. And just for us to be, now, a year out of that experience, and to still be that strongly connected to her, just shows me, again, we're meant to come and pass with each other."

During season 6, Brittany and Kenneth hit it off in the pods before becoming one of the first couples to get engaged sight unseen. With barely any drama between the two — aside from what appeared to be some awkwardly silent moments on their getaway to the Dominican Republic — Brittany and Kenneth seemed to be a pretty promising couple.

But things changed when they returned to Charlotte, North Carolina, and the two had to resume their daily lives as a unit. In particular, it appeared Kenneth was always on his phone and the two were on different pages when it came to physical affection and "the crave" of PDA. Ultimately, the couple decided to go their separate ways in an emotional moment during episode 8.

When it came to Kenneth's phone usage, Brittany previously told PEOPLE that their breakup had nothing to do that. (She also echoed those sentiments at Wednesday's reunion.)

"We have joked about [his phone usage], and we talked about it of course while we were filming ... and at that time, it truly didn't bother me," she told PEOPLE. "I definitely take into consideration his career, number one, because that is extremely important to Kenneth, and I think we all know that. And so in my mind, while yes, I could've been like, 'Oh, get off your phone.' No, it was more so of, I know what he's doing. He's got a career. He's got a whole entire school to take care of. Children to grow, learn."

"And I think that that's very important to remember because it didn't necessarily rub me the wrong way," she continued. "Whenever I needed something or I needed a conversation, his phone would drop. And so that's how I felt. Whether it is shown that way or not, that's my feelings and that was our story."

As for their physical connection, the former couple was asked at the reunion if they ever considered having sex to "add to the crave" they were lacking, but Brittany shut that idea down.

"Going into this, I made a promise to myself... I'm gonna wait until marriage," she said, noting that they received this question often. "That is a supplement, and it's a more an addition to, and I should not have to first test that out to then make my decision. I wanted to be 100 percent confident and that was my choice. We agreed to make a promise to ourselves and to each other... and it didn’t really need to be tested out to figure out where we were at."
