On Sunday, May 12, the actor, 51, celebrated his wife, 30, on the spring holiday, posting a selfie on his Instagram Stories. Smiling together, Duhamel took a moment to honor his wife as he wrote over the image. "Here's to you my love on your first Mother's Day. What an amazing mommy you are to our baby Shepherd and Axl couldn't ask for a better step mother," Duhamel wrote. "We're beyond blessed to have you in our lives. And to all the mothers out there, thank you for holding it down and for raising us up. Happy Mother's Day." Duhamel is also dad to son Axl, 10, whom he shares with ex Fergie. On Easter this year, Mari shared a sweet video on her Instagram Stories of her and Shepherd, who wore a sweet yellow knit outfit. "Easter baby," she captioned the video. Before welcoming Shepherd in January, Duhamel talked about how his son Axl had a sweet reaction to hearing he's going to be a big brother. "He's like, 'Wait, now, am I going to be — You're still going to love me, though, too, right?' ” the star shared in an interview with Parade. “I was like, 'Of course, I'm going to still love you.' And he's like, 'I'm still going to be your firstborn son, though, right?' I'm like, 'Yeah, you're still the firstborn son!' ” the Shotgun Wedding actor added. "He's a really sweet kid. And he loves babies!" Duhamel said. "I was the same way at his age. I just have always loved babies. There's something about them. And he's really good with younger kids. So I think he's going to be a great older brother." In October, Duhamel earned some "dad points" after he met soccer icon David Beckham. Sharing a photo where he posed with the athlete on Instagram, the actor explained why the photo was extra special. "This was just too good not to share. Thank you @davidbeckham for making me look cool to my son. You’re a good man," he captioned the shot. His Instagram also included a video showing Axl reacting to the photo in a video message to his dad. "Dad, that's so cool! You met David Beckham!" he squealed in the video. "Oh my gosh, that's so cool. I wish I could meet him."
