Music fans: Get out your reading glasses. A new book is on the way from hip-hop legend Trina.

Da Baddest, due out from Simon & Schuster this fall, will take readers from the rapper's coming up all the way through her enduring legacy.

"Trina always understands the assignment. She knows how to adapt to evolving sounds, generations and trends without losing the core of who she is as an artist," Missy Elliott says in the book's foreword.

Katrina “Trina” Taylor, 47, grew up relatively sheltered by her mother and stepfather in Miami with an especially strong bond between Trina and her mom. Even at an early age, she knew she wanted to be a "powerful, successful and magnetic woman, a woman who was entirely self-reliant and independent," according to a press release shared with PEOPLE.

Trina dreamed of becoming a background dancer in the rap videos she saw filming around her neighborhood of Liberty City. But her career soon exceeded those dreams by a mile. In Da Baddest, the artist will share her vulnerability and deep love for her family, home and music.

"This evocative look into Trina’s upbringing and life as a rap icon proves why she is the blueprint and how she helped pave the way for the future of female rappers and hip-hop artists," the release says.

Trina is a platinum-selling artist with more than two decades in the industry. She has released six studio albums, four EPs and in 2022, BET Networks honored the star with the I Am Hip Hop award for her contributions to pop culture and music in particular. Her additional recognitions and nominations include American Music Awards, BET Awards, BillBoard Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards.

Da Baddest will be released by Simon & Schuster on Oct. 8, and is available for preorder now, wherever books are sold.
