The first-ever Golden Bachelor couple tied the knot earlier this year and announced their pending divorce just three months later on Good Morning America on April 12. While divorce sometimes comes adjacent to love lost, the cordial exes explained that wasn’t the reason they’ve decided to “dissolve” their marriage. The couple was still living long distance at the time of their split, with Turner, 72, committed to his Indiana lake house and Nist, 70, in New Jersey. “We looked at home after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision," Nist said on the morning show. John Fleenor/DISNEY via Getty Despite saying they were “100 percent committed to making it work,” different priorities led to a difference in location. “The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations, it's been how dedicated both of us our to our families,” Turner said. “So we look at these conversations and we both think it's best for the happiness of each of us to live apart." Turner and Nist confirmed they’re still very much in love, despite the decision to end their marriage. They also maintained it wasn’t pressure from the public after their love story, and subsequent lavish, televised wedding, either. “I still love this person. There’s no doubt in my mind, I still am in love with her. In the end, it was Nist who won Turner’s final rose, and his wedding vows. “I promise to choose you, every day, as the one I love, and never take your heart for granted," Turner told Nist in his vows during their televised wedding on Jan. 4. "I promise to shout the 'I love yous' by day, and whisper them softly at night. I promise to keep you safe.
