Avril Lavigne planned to go all out for her Canada Day wedding to countryman Chad Kroeger, and it appears she succeeded, with a three-day celebration in the South of France in which she wore a black gown. “I wanted to make sure it s a crazy vacation and an experience of a lifetime for our guests,” Lavigne, 28, told Hello magazine of her July 1 nuptials at the Chateau de la Napoule medieval castle near Cannes. “I wanted it to be over the top,” she added. “I m obsessed with castles and I love French décor and goth … I found this castle in France and we visited it and it was perfect.” Before 110 guests, the singer walked down the aisle in a black tulle Monique Lhuillier gown before exchanging vows with Kroeger, 38, in a candlelight Gothic-themed wedding. Her new husband, a member of the band Nickelback, tells Hello, “When you’ve got that ring on your finger that you get to look at every single day, and you get to call that other person husband or wife, it’s a really special feeling.” The pair got together last February when Kroeger contributed to Lavigne’s latest album, Here’s To Never Growing Up.
