I'm really proud that I've been able to stay strong.” The Summer House star admitted that his sobriety faced a test right after he ended his engagement with Hubbard, 37, this summer and checked into a hotel room. “I had gotten a hotel room the night or the day after or the day of the conversation,” he recalled. “I talked to Lindsay's father. He said, ‘Take some space.’ And I said, ‘I agree.’" Kyle Cooke Says Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard Couldn't Communicate 'Without a Third Party' Prior to Split "So I got a hotel room that night," he continued. "I walked into the hotel, the guy saw how disheveled I was from everything that had gone on. He said, ‘What's going on?’ I said, ‘I'm dealing with something at home.’” A few minutes after Radke got into his hotel room, the hotel employee showed up to his door with a bottle of wine. “That was the strength I had in that moment to just say, ‘No, I can't,’” Radke said. “I'm proud of that. These are moments where it's really trying on your mental health [and] sobriety. I'm just trying to move forward with respect and focus on myself and try and live a happy life.” 'Summer House' stars Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard. Charles Sykes/Bravo via Getty Summer House's Lindsay Hubbard Says Broken Engagement 'Blew Up My Entire Life' The reality star credited the “amazing support” he has in his life for helping him stay strong. “The sober community is unbelievable,” Radke said. “I've been committed to doing my AA meetings. People that probably hated me, still reaching out to me and saying, ‘You know, I'm here for you, I support you.’” Radke celebrated two years of sobriety in January. The 2020 death of his brother, who struggled with addiction and mental health issues, inspired Radke to seek help. "My brother never really stuck to a program and it was something I needed to do and I'm really proud of myself for doing that," Radke said on Watch What Happens Live in 2021. "So I'm feeling great and I'm happy to be here." Charles Sykes/Bravo The Syracuse University grad told PEOPLE at BravoCon that he’s found it harder to cope with calling off his wedding to Hubbard than the death of his brother. “This has been harder than my brother passing away, I'm not even kidding,” Radke said. “It's been very, very painful and emotional.” Summer House's Carl Radke Doesn't Think Lindsay Hubbard Was 'Blindsided' by Their Broken Engagement (Exclusive) But Radke wanted to come to BravoCon to stand with his Summer House castmates. “I'm hanging in here. Part of me is like, so proud to be here, a part of the Bravo family,” he said. “I've been on Summer House for eight seasons. I love our show, I love the network. I love our fans and I just wanted to come here and represent our show the best I could and hold my head high.” For more of PEOPLE's BravoCon coverage, click here.
