Angelina Jolie's daughter Vivienne is a major part of the upcoming Broadway adaptation of The Outsiders.

When the Oscar winner, 48, announced in August 2023 that she was working as a lead producer on the new musical, an adaptation of S.E. Hinton's novel and Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 film, Jolie also shared that Vivienne, 15, is working on it as a volunteer assistant.

"Viv reminds me of my mother in that she isn’t focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives," Jolie previously said in a statement at that time.

"She’s very thoughtful and serious about theatre and working hard to best understand how to contribute."

Jolie and Vivienne were seen at a preview performance of The Outsiders in New York City on April 3, at which the mother-daughter duo posed for photos with the musical's casts and crew, as well as Matt Dillon, who starred in the 1983 movie version.

Jolie grew involved in the musical after she and Vivienne took in a performance at La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego in 2023, as she said in a statement back in August. PEOPLE previously reported that the pair also met with the book's author Hinton, who famously wrote The Outsiders as a high school student in the 1960s.

"I can’t begin to express how excited I am for this musical to make its Broadway debut and look forward to sharing this new adaptation of The Outsiders with the world," Jolie said at the time.
