Mariah Carey is making sure her 55th birthday is "One Sweet Day."

The pop superstar celebrated her 55th birthday — which she famously calls her "anniversary" — on Wednesday. To ring in the festivities, the hitmaker shared a stunning selfie on Instagram in which she looked absolutely glowing and like she was basking in all of the positive b-day vibes.

"Anniversary adventures commence 🎉🦋," Mimi wrote in the caption of the shot of herself.

In the photo, the Songbird Supreme appeared to be relaxing aboard a yacht that was setting sail. She fittingly seemed to channel mermaidcore for the excursion by wearing a tight-fitted, sequined, indigo gown, styling her hair in a curly, flowing ponytail and wearing her eye makeup in a dark purple shade.

Carey looked to be very happy to honor her "anniversary," as she was smiling wide in the photo.

Last year, the Grammy winner also celebrated her birthday while on vacation. She shared that she was making a splash to welcome in her year ahead by posting a video on Instagram of herself jumping off a boat into stunning tropical waters.

"Celebratory splash at 3:27 on 3.27! 🦋🍾🎉🌊," the "Obsessed" singer captioned the post.

Carey has long dubbed birthdays as anniversaries. She opened up about the concept in a 2014 OUT Magazine cover story, explaining that she feels "eternally 12-years-old" and celebrates the anniversary of her 12th birthday.

"As a kid I literally made this pact," she told the outlet. "There had been some sort of argument with my mom and the man she was dating at the time, and somehow I became a part of it — I was around 8 or 9 years old, and I said, 'I'm never going to forget how it feels to be a kid, and you can't be seen or heard.' It's as though your opinion doesn't mean anything, or your feelings are not real."

That year, she further clarified her comments to The Observer in an interview, saying, "I don’t count years but I definitely rebuke them… I have anniversaries, not birthdays, because I celebrate life, darling."

On last year's anniversary, the "We Belong Together" singer also reposted an old video interview of herself on X (formerly Twitter) in which she says, "I don't have birthdays." In the clip, she adds, "No, well, I just have anniversaries. I decided to do that. And I’ve noticed that people who decide not to have birthdays, they just don’t have them."
