When
Effective June 1, 2022, there will be some changes to the Department of Revenue’s (“DOR”) MassTaxConnect New Hire Reporting process.
Changes as of June 1, 2022
- Users will have the option of adding new hires one employee at a time or may choose to import multiple employees using the provided Excel template on MassTaxConnect.
- Users can find the Excel template in the “Submit file” panel by choosing the “More..” tab and selecting the ‘Report New Hires’ hyperlink.
- Any file that’s larger than 11MB must be uploaded through DOR’s existing Bulk File Portal. No changes have been made to the portal.
Data must be correct to avoid rejection
Data files uploaded directly on MassTaxConnect with invalid new hire data will not be processed until they are corrected. Users uploading data files using the bulk file portal will receive an acknowledgement file which will indicate whether the file was accepted or rejected. If a file is rejected, the user will be given the reason(s) for the rejection and the specific data record that is in error.
Common reasons for a file to be rejected:
- Invalid employee SSN
- Invalid employee hire date
- No address for employee
