Job Description-

Key Responsibilities:

Review and validate COBOL code: Analyze COBOL 85 code for correctness, and compatibility.

Verify upgraded COBOL code: Assess GenAI-generated COBOL 2002 code for validity, compilability, and as per COBOL 2002 standards.

Guide code chunking: Provide expertise in segmenting COBOL code optimally for processing within GenAI's token limits.

Evaluate COBOL modernization tools: Verify code conversion and debug chunk and conversion done by tool.

Required Skills And Experience

COBOL expertise: Minimum of 6-12 years of hands-on experience working with COBOL in various domains.

Experience in COBOL modernization: hands-on experience in upgrading COBOL code to newer standards or converting it to modern languages.

Deep understanding of COBOL language constructs, syntax, and semantics.

Familiarity with COBOL compilers and debugging tools.

Experience with code analysis and refactoring techniques.

We need a cobol expert who can understand 'cobol 85' and 'cobol 2002' version very well. The expert should know how to use a compiler to compile both 'cobol 85' and 'cobol 2002'. They should be good enough to understand the OOPS concept of the latest version of cobol. We need the compiler to be installed on our machine, that too is an expertise we are looking at.
