Tidas enhances its cloud infrastructure and triples its environment's store base

Tidas offers a one-stop shop credit solution, including management services for installment sales. It works mainly with guarantees and advance payment booklets to facilitate a buy now, pay later business model.

Using the Tidas app, consumers can pay the installments owed to associated stores. The service allows customers to shop at several stores and centralize payments. On the other hand, Tidas also provides solutions to anticipate receivables, guarantee payments, and manage debt collection with plan templates offered to retailers.

Based in Rio do Sul, in the state of Santa Catarina, Tidas now has approximately 80 employees and serves over 1,500 stores. The company has always had to innovate to provide these features to associated stores and their customers; in fact, its entire credit solution runs on a web app, which is cloud-based.

From 2013 to 2019, the company relied on a service provider that fell short in terms of costs, flexibility in the use of tools, and suitable payment methods. Therefore, the company began analyzing other solutions that would bring both technical and financial advantages.

Seeking best practices with Google Cloud

The company first migrated to Google Cloud in February 2019, and the process took four months to complete. The goal was to reduce costs and obtain an easy-to-manage user interface. From 2019 to 2022, Tidas's team itself managed the cloud resources supported by Google Cloud's team at key moments.

However, initially concerned with infrastructure improvement, the company then started to shift its focus to the sustainability and management of tools and their features. That is why Movti, a Google Cloud partner, entered the picture in 2022 to deploy other solutions and design a structure to leverage the best practices involved in the use of cloud technologies.

Thanks to Movti's support, the company's environment was completely redesigned and redefined. New solutions were incorporated into developers' daily routines, and Tidas took an active role throughout the process.

One of the main tools the company uses is Cloud Load Balancing, a load balancer that distributes user traffic into several instances and prevents performance issues. Another is Cloud Armor, an easy-to-configure solution that is essential for protecting the applications or services behind load balancers.

"Cloud SQL, which operates as a database manager, offers an impressive high availability and a read-only instance for reporting. The use of Datastream, together with BigQuery, also stands out, as it is possible to fill in history data and continuously replicate changes as they occur," says Tidas's Co-Founder.

Leveraging solutions to obtain positive results

The first migration of Tidas to Google Cloud had already brought significant advantages: an initial 30% cost savings with a 50% higher resource availability compared to the previous cloud provider. Over time, and primarily due to Movti's support, the company managed to attain even more positive results.

Thanks to the possibility of working with large data volumes, enabled by BigQuery and Datastream, Tidas's team can now perform data analytics tasks with fast response times. In addition, accelerated feature development and app uploading have tripled the number of stores in its environment, enabling the company to expand its reach.

"Today, Tidas has a well developed infrastructure. And this is the result of the technical expertise the company's team has when it comes to the cloud," explains Anderson Costa, SRE Specialist at Movti. "We're continuing to support the company on its journey with regular meetings to identify new requirements as they arise."

Evolution is still ongoing at Tidas. The next step is to migrate the PostgreSQL database, which is using Cloud SQL, to AlloyDB to further improve performance and leverage Vertex AI integrations. Although tests will be conducted, the expectation around these new transformations is already high.
