I purchased this unit to replace a Roomba e6. Summary review - it is far superior.

Many of the negative comments are true, but are in comparison to a $600+ Roomba. If you want all those features, reliability, intelligence, etc., then pay $600+. This review is in comparison to a Roomba e6. I paid $300 for the e6 years ago, and paid <$250 for this unit, on sale.

    Compared to Roomba e6 :
    - Far better coverage.
It maps as it goes, so it tries to cover as much as possible without repeating. It can do most of 1300 sq ft house in a pass. The e6 could barely cover one room with it's brain-dead bouncing around. It does not memorize the map for use in the next pass (unlike a top-end model). It will sometimes miss a room, but next pass it might get that room but miss something else. Not ideal, but far superior to price-equivalent bounce-around model.
    - Doesn't get stuck
The e6 could not make it through a pass without getting stuck several times. I'd have to spend so much time rescuing it or blocking & unblocking areas with pillows, etc., that it took less time to use a vacuum. This thing is fire-and-forget. It has a low profile so it easily fits under furniture the e6 would get stuck under.
    - Price
    Hella functionality for < $300.
    - Easy to clean
Hopper and brush are easy to remove, empty, and clean. I recommend gently cleaning the dust filter with a kitchen spray nozzle and allow it to dry. This is not mentioned in the manual, but that filter gets really dirty and needs more than just banging it out. Do it after every use.
    - Quiet.
With the e6 running, we could not watch TV in a separate room, even with the door closed, because it was so noisy and would fruitlessly bang itself against our bedroom door. I don't watch TV (except sports) in the same room as this unit, but it is not disruptive through a closed door. It is running while I am typing this and it is not at all distracting, unlike the e6 that sounds like a jet landing in my house.
    - Good suction
Picks up way more than the e6. The hopper needs to be emptied after every use. Neither the e6 nor my Dyson pick up that much.
    - No problem with tile/carpet
It has no problem transitioning from tile to carpet or rug or bath mat. Other people have reported a problem. I think this depends on your particular floor/rug/mat/layout.
    - OK with cat litter
We have a litter box mat that grabs most of the litter as the cat steps out. It won't pick that up. But it will get other stray bits of litter.
    - Wifi setup hinky
It was not as simple as 1-2-3. I'm tech savvy so I figured it out on my own (can't remember how). Others have reported this problem. Call tech support for help. Echo other reviews - they really need to make this process simpler so non-tech savvy person can plug-and-play this thing.
    - Unknown reliability
I don't know how reliable it will be, as I've only had it a few weeks and run it about a dozen times. I almost never get extended warranties, they are usually a rip off, but I got one for this because of warnings that it only lasts about a year. It's about $35, so if it dies inside 3 years I'll get another.
    - App functionality
There are complaints that you can't do some things with the app like tell it to skip a room or whatever. I don't use any of that, for this or the e6, so I don't know and don't care. I don't want to tell it to do anything, certainly not mid-cleaning. I just want to start it and let it run.
    - Finds it's way home
The e6 navigates as well as a drunk sailor. Almost never found it's way home so I'd have to go hunting around to find it, on hands and knees looking under all the furniture, and every nook of the house. Waste of my time. This unit has gotten lost only once.
    - Wife likes it
    Nuff said.

The main reason I got this was so that it could go under furniture, not get stuck, and get better coverage than the e6, for ~$300. It does all that. If you want more, cough up $600. Highly recommend.

EDIT 13Oct2022 - The first unit worked well for months before developing a rattling type noise, widely reported by others. Eufy was quick to send a replacement, after I posted the old one. I got it within days. That one had the rattling noise out of the box. I went back and forth with their support/engineers; they were diligently trying to find a cause and cure, and I was impressed. Eventually they told me to return it, and they would send a new one after a posted the old one. I waited the requisite 10 days for the replacement to arrive, it didn't, I contacted support again and they told me woops, it didn't get shipped cuz of a problem at our end, we'll ship it now and send you a tracking number. Wait wait wait, nothing. Email them again, woops it still hasn't shipped, we'll ship it soon. I've now been waiting a month for a replacement.
I was so impressed at first with the product and customer service, they easily earned five stars. This fiasco has dropped it to two stars. I told them to express it to me NOW; if it gets here tomorrow I'll raise this up to 4*, but don't count on it.

Update : eufy did expedite the unit to me, and all is well now. I hope they fix whatever problem they have in their warehouse, cuz they otherwise have a great product and support.

[Updated 6-7-2023] Almost at three years of constant use now and we finally had a significant failure--the pivot on the front roller-ball wheel broke off. As noted below, however, Eufy offers replacement parts for seemingly every part of this vacuum (you could pretty much build your own just out of spare parts) and shipped me a new wheel for $10 with free shipping. I ordered a replacement battery at the same time since our runtime had dropped to about 80 minutes. Installing the new wheel and battery took five minutes total, and the vac now rolls smoothly again and has a runtime back up to 100-minutes plus.

One other update--it appears that Eufy updated the software to prevent the "light as obstacle" problem. I hadn't checked in months but noticed recently that the vac now moves through sunlit bright sections on the floor without any issue. Upgraded my review to five stars since this product has now far outperformed my initial expectations.

[Updated 8-30-22] Two years of running two days a week and the G30 is still going strong. It's a bit noisier than it used to be, but it still returns home with a canister full of pet hair after every run. I've found that I haven't had to replace the consumable parts such as brushes and filters nearly as often as recommended--which honestly isn't that often. Vacuuming the filter after each run when emptying the canister seems to keep it working well beyond the suggested 200 hours even if it's not quite as efficient as it was when new.

Eufy should also be commended for its attitude toward replacement parts. You can find everything from filters to wheels to motors for the G30 and other models on Eufy's site, along with videos for how to replace the parts yourself. As we all know, many manufacturers seem intent on making you replace an entire product when something simple breaks or wears out. It's good that Eufy is being more responsible to its customers. (I won't say "to the planet" since honestly, the best thing for the planet would be for all of us to go back to brooms and dust pans rather than robots.)

[Updated 7-28] This is our first robovac, and thus far we're loving it. We have two cats and two dogs, and have spent every spring watching furry dust bunnies gather under the furniture and in the corners, even with regular cleaning. I had a chance to buy the G30 on sale as an early adopter, and having liked other Eufy/Anker products, I took the chance.

We currently run it daily, and it comes back completely full of animal hair every time--which is both gratifying and a little eye-opening as we clearly had no idea how much fur was really floating around the house.

It's thin enough to get under most of our bigger furniture, it's quite quiet (though we pause it if it's cleaning near us when we're watching TV), and it's been able to get over the thresholds between our rooms even though they're right at the stated height limit. I expect this is in part because they have a rather smooth ramp to the top--if they were more squared off on the sides I'm not sure we'd have been so lucky.

    As for the quirks:

    1) Like others, we initially had some issues with the side brush sometimes getting caught on our area rugs, causing the vac to reverse direction. Two things corrected the problem for us. First, I discovered I had not been inserting the side brush quite firmly enough--it required a bit more pressure to fully seat into place, which raises it just a bit higher off the floor. Second, our rug pads were very close to the edge of the rugs. I trimmed the pads by a couple inches and then curled the rug edges downward, toward the floor to make the edges sit more squarely on the hardwood. That solved the getting-caught problem for us, so it might be worth a try if you encounter the same issue.

    2) It can be blinded by strong sunlight. (See the video.) We found that it would sometimes approach places in our kitchen where morning sun was hitting the floor, and it would treat the sunlit squares as physical obstacles. Eufy support suspected this was because the drop sensors on the sides of the vac were blinded by the glare. Small pieces of tape over the sensors did help, but we instead decided to simply run the vac at night. (I'd also commend Eufy's tech support for being very quick to respond and helpful.)

    3) Our hundred-year-old house has antique furnace grates with relatively large holes (maybe 3/4-inch at largest). These holes seem to be large enough that the drop sensors occasionally get spooked and cause the vac to skirt the grates--not a big deal, but it does slow down the cleaning process a bit.

    4) The orientation of the charging base to your floor plan seems to have an impact on cleaning efficiency, at least in our case. I had originally placed the base on an angled wall in a bump-out, which caused the vac to start cleaning at a diagonal to the walls. I didn't see any particular issue with this, but after about a week, I moved the base to a nearby but slightly more hidden location on a wall square to the floor plan. Before the move, the vac averaged about 532 sq feet of cleaning per session as reported by the app. After the move, it's averaging 672 sq feet of cleaning and seems less likely to get confused in the odd corners of the house. So experimenting with base location may be worthwhile to optimize the vac's efficiency.

All in all, a good purchase, particularly on sale.

My daughter bought this for me for Christmas. I used it and was so impressed I bought a second one for my lower level on the boxing week sales.

It won’t fall down stairs idk how but it knows how to avoid them. It won’t get caught on big cords but small cords (like an iPhone charger will have to be picked up). And it will go up and over mats so you don’t have to pick them up. (Mats that are stationary) so if you can walk on them without them moving. Eg a kitchen foam rubber mat.

It just runs on a pattern across the room in an up and down (horizontal or vertical) pattern that seems to pick everything up. Or you can set it to just spot clean an area.

I have 2 cats and there was always cat hair on my hardwood floors no matter how often I tried to keep up with it. Now, with this running everyday I don’t see anymore cat hair.

We put the second one on the bottom level and it runs in the cats room first where the litter boxes are and it completely picks up any spare litter that the cats paws leave behind when they come out of the litter box. (That litter gravel always seemed to get tracked around the house). Now I never see or feel any grit, so I’m not constantly sweeping.

    I love this thing!!

No setting up, no setting or programming a pattern of your room for it to follow it just knows.

I can’t say enough good things about it!

You can wash the filter. I would recommend getting the spare parts kit that is available with it so you’ll have an extra filter and brush in case you need it.

It is slightly noisy, nothing crazy but if I’m watching tv I do have to turn the tv up a bit when it comes into the room. (It is a vaccum after all).

It will return to its base on its own. If you have multi levels just pick it up and put it on the next level or get a second one.

For the price this thing is great!!

    I’d give this 20 out of 10!!!

We purchased this item when it was on sale and it has been worth every penny its arrival. We have three cats in the house and as you can imagine, keeping up with cat hair can be a challenge. Since we started running the Eufy the floors are fur-free and clean.

Setup of the Eufy was easy. Remove the protective tape, attach the side brush and set up the app. The first battery charge takes a fair amount of time so those impatient like me to see the "new toy" in action will have to wait for a while.

The app provides comprehensive access to the unit, letting you set a schedule for cleaning, power of the unit, command it to come home, command it to start cleaning or to perform a spot clean. You can also manually control the unit if you want to but having tried that I really don't see much of the point behind that feature.

The Eufy takes a bit longer on its first run through the house. I suspect it is learning a bit about its environment on this first run. As it learns it is able to clean faster. The sensors are pretty good and the Eufy hasn't even come close to falling down the stairs, even though it cleans right to the edge of the steps. It will bump into things but it adjusts and manages to clean around obstacles.

You have to provide routine care for the unit on a regular basis. I empty the dustbin and remove any hair or debris from the roller and side brush every two days. It's not a difficult job and takes only a few minutes.

Overall, we are very happy with the Eufy. The floors look great and we don't have to give it too much thought.

    Some things to consider:

    - The Eufy is "afraid" of sunlight. Its sensors interpret bright sunlight as a great void so it may send a cry for help if it finds itself in a bright sunbeam.

    - There is a roller brush and like any vacuum, that roller brush may get caught with stray objects. We have kids who sometimes leave a sock lying around. The unit will issue a cry for assistance if the roller becomes jammed.

    - Battery life is good. It cleans +/- 1000 sq feet every day without running low on battery. If it does run low it will return home and then resume cleaning once it is fully recharged.

    - The app runs over the WiFi and communicates over the internet as well. You can control the unit via the app even when you are not home.

    - Watch out for stray wires. The unit is very slender in height and fits under our entertainment unit where it finds a few wires and occasionally gets stuck. That said, I am amazed by how often it can run over a power cord and work its way back off.

I've given the unit a four star review but I would go as high as 4.5. I am sure there are better, smarter robot vacuums out there but this one does what it is advertised to do and does it very well. The gap in the star review would be mostly around the fact that you really do have to pay attention to the thing, especially to keep it out of the sun.
