You start by inductions, mentoring and when you do mentoring you can also determine the need of training. A anual traing plan for each employee and mentoring are 2 very important tools. After we can check by doing safety walks and see if that tool is really effective.

What did we do well What did we not do well Where did we lose money Where did we gain money Can we improve x What can we stop doing Etc etc etc The exercise of reflection is a must !! I would encourage a team meeting after every project to discuss with your team the above points.

However, stresses of the project and delayed programmes can lead some leaders getting off course quickly with the project. Leaders of projects need to always be 3 steps ahead and spot the danger, this allows the projects to run as smoothly as they possibly can without delay.
