Biography

Education

Abelson was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He earned a bachelor's degree from Princeton University and a law degree from New York University School of Law.[3]

Professional career

Prior to joining the court, Abelson was a litigator with Zuckerman Spaeder LLP and maintained a pro bono practice. He has served as chair of the American Bar Association’s Working Group on Building Public Trust in the American Justice System, on the board of the Job Opportunities Task Force, and as a board member and officer of the Maryland Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.[3]

Adam Abelson joined the United States District Court for the District of Maryland as a federal magistrate judge on September 18, 2023.[3]

Powell Federal Courthouse.

The Greenbelt (Southern) Division, covering Calvert, Charles, Montgomery, Prince George's, and St. Mary's counties
