Super Mario Maker 2 (for Nintendo Switch)

Super Mario Maker 2 lets you make your own Mario levels on the Nintendo Switch, with even more toys to play with than the first game.

Tools

The original Super Mario Maker had a wide selection of blocks, power-ups, and enemies to use, and Super Mario Maker 2 expands that list considerably. To accommodate the extra options, the drop-down grid menu of the first Super Mario Maker has been replaced with a series of radial menus.

Missions

Goal conditions disable the goal until Mario meets specific criteria, like holding a certain item, collecting a certain number of coins, or defeating a certain number of enemies. Goal conditions can also prevent level completion if Mario performs a forbidden action defined in the level, such as collecting a coin or jumping.

Yamamura's Dojo

Yamamura, the expert pigeon, offers tutorials on how to build levels.

Skins

You can make levels based on the graphics and mechanics of Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros., just like in the previous Super Mario Maker. Then there's the Super Mario 3D World skin, a fifth style listed under a separate section of the menu called "Extra Game Styles" which uses a different set of objects.

Super Mario Bros.

The Super Mario Bros. skin with the Ice theme.

Super Mario Bros. 3

The Super Mario Bros. 3 skin with the Lava theme.

Super Mario World

The Super Mario World skin with the Sky theme.

New Super Mario Bros.

The New Super Mario Bros. skin with the Airship theme.

Super Mario 3D World

The Super Mario 3D World skin with the Airship theme.

Sharing Levels

As you upload levels, get feedback, and play other peoples' levels, you unlock costume pieces for your Mii, which show up in your levels' player icons.

Finding Levels

You can browse lists of levels based on popularity, theme, difficulty, or a number of tags like "Autoscroll" or "Puzzle-Solving."

Endless Mode

You can also play a random, endless playlist of levels, sorted by difficulty, in Endless Mode.
