Tokyo intends to be financial hub for companies going green

Japan government sees opportunities in what is being called transition finance

TOKYO -- Tokyo intends to become the financing hub for Asian companies transitioning to low-carbon emitters, a top Japanese government official said on Wednesday.

"The Japanese government wants to support efforts by the financial services sector to become Asia's hub for transition finance," said Seiji Kihara, deputy chief cabinet secretary and a key adviser to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
