Local animation studio Monsta has reported that its YouTube channel has been hacked.

The studio behind hits like Boboiboy and Mechamato had almost 13.5 million subscribers at the time of the hack.

According to a Facebook post by its chief executive officer Nizam Abd Razak yesterday, the studio’s YouTube channel was hacked by an American-based crypto company, resulting in missing original content.

“Monsta Channel which has 13.5 million subscribers has been hacked and renamed to Microstrategy US,” said Nizam.

In an official statement today on X, the studio expressed serious concerns over this breach not just for the disruption it has caused to their operations but also for the “violation of the trust that millions of families and young viewers place in us”.

The studio stated that it is collaborating closely with YouTube to speed up the restoration of its original account along with all its content, and that it will be implementing enhanced security measures to prevent a repeat incident in the future.

It also extended its gratitude to all their supporters and viewers for their concern, and said it would provide updates as the situation develops.
