FANS STRIKE IT LUCKY.
DAVE BOWMAN reckons the referees' shock strike could turn out to be a blessing in disguise - because it's time foreign and English whistlers were given a chance to rule the roost in Scotland.The Dundee United legend, who once copped a whopping 17-game ban, had regular run-ins with Scots whistlers during his colourful career.
That's why Bowman, dubbed Psycho by the Tannadice faithful, is all for continental and English officials being drafted in should the refs union stand firm on their pledge of a strike.
He said: "If the Scottish refs feel they have the right to go on strike in light of recent events then we'd have to think of a viable alternative.
"It's entirely up to them but rather than weep about it this could actually be the moment we've been waiting for. I've always been quite keen on the idea of foreign and English referees being given a chance to see if they would handle things differently.
"They couldn't be much worse than some of the officials we've had to put up with in Scotland over the years.
"Even if it was just for one weekend then there would be a welcome freshness the fans would appreciate. It'd give the SFA food for thought."
