Conflict in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory

Overview

Since 7 October 2023, the escalating crisis in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory has caused large numbers of civilian deaths and injuries. In Israel, the violence of the Hamas attacks in the south continues to impact the population with ongoing physical and mental trauma.

WHO has called for the immediate and unconditional release and safe return of over 200 hostages held in Gaza.

Airstrikes and lack of access to essential services and supplies in Gaza have worsened an already challenging humanitarian situation there. WHO is working with health authorities and partners to address the most urgent health needs, including through the provision of lifesaving medical supplies.

WHO is committed to supporting the health and well-being of all Israelis and Palestinians. Health and health care must remain neutral and protected at all times. WHO has offered assistance to Israel, the occupied Palestinian territory and surrounding countries.
