Monitoring and reporting of routine immunization-related data

WHO/Europe regularly collects data on vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD) and immunization programme performance from all Member States of the WHO European Region to monitor and assess the progress and impact of vaccination strategies to control, eliminate or eradicate VPD.

VPD surveillance data, namely data on acute flaccid paralysis (AFP), measles and rubella  are collected weekly and monthly, respectively, using the Centralized Information System for Infectious Diseases (CISID). WHO/Europe is now strengthening the management of VPD surveillance data by introducing the WHO Immunization Information System (WIISE) system, which will replace the CISID.

Data are extensively analysed and made available on the WHO/Europe website in the form of regional and country profiles, monthly EpiData tables and the EpiBrief newsletter, among other publications. The data and analyses are further shared with WHO headquarters to merge with and add value to global databases.
