Globeius Makes NPE Debut With End-Of-Arm-Tooling, Bottle Leak Testing and More

The Miami-based supplier of various plastics technologies also featured a melt-temperature testing system, closed-loop cooling manifolds and its successful mold crane offering.

At its first NPE, plastics equipment and technology supplier Globeius added several new technologies to its portfolio and showcased existing, successful product lines. New offerings included the Melt Temperature Measurement System (MTMS), Mouldpro’s Roborex range of end-of-arm-tooling (EOAT) and Villa Giovanni’s linear leak testing system.

Mouldpro’s Roborex EOAT range, which is said to offer competitive pricing, joins the company’s existing portfolio of robotic quick changers, grippers, suction cups and other industrial automation options. As with all Mouldpro products, Roborex tooling is fully compatible with industry standards, enabling seamless integration into new and existing automation systems.

The Villa Giovanni linear leak testing system is designed to evaluate bottles as large as 220 L, rejecting and separating any containers with holes or other defects. It can be installed inside a blow molding machine or on an external conveyor of standard dimensions. For testing purposes, compressed air is injected into each bottle, with the pressure delta measured at a specified time after testing starts. Bottles that fail testing are ejected by a pneumatic cylinder.

Available with up to 10 testing heads, the Villa Giovanni system can assess containers at an average of 0.7 sec./liter of capacity. Options include a control system for blocked necks, a piece counter, scrap-handling control, a weight-control system, a camera vision system and a kit to measure bottles with inclined necks.

Globeius also exhibited the Melt Temperature Measurement System (MTMS), which enables injection molders to ascertain the true temperature of plastic melt. The MTMS kit includes a purge puck with two magnets, a ring, a fast-reading pyrometer and 50 insulator cups. Repeatable, accurate (± 1% melt temperature) results are obtained in four steps. The purge puck positions a heavy-duty thermocouple at the optimal spot in the material or purge flow path to capture resin temperatures. The MTMS is particularly critical in maintaining process consistency in medical manufacturing.

Globeius’ booth also featured the Flosense monitoring system for tracking water manifold temperatures and pressure. Graeme Sands, general manager at Globeius, noted that the system can measure temperature, pressure and flow rate by zone, and it enables users to set alarms if any readings are impacted by even the beginning of a blockage, sending a preventive maintenance note. The company also sells a portable descaling unit to eliminate blockages, with the Flosense technology able to be retrofitted to existing manifolds. Sands notes that energy savings are possible because the technology can send a signal to the thermolator to only apply the necessary amount of flow to achieve desired cooling. The booth also highlighted the GT line of cranes for mold changes, as well as rack storage for tooling.
