Shazam Google Play

Good news on the music discovery front, Android users. Shazam is making it easier to play and buy music you identify with the app.

The next time you Shazam a track on your Android device, you'll be able to buy the song with a single click. No more switching apps and looking up the song; the latest version of Shazam includes a Google Play button that lets you purchase tracks straight from the online store. Look for the new Google Play button at the top of the drop-down menu in the Shazam Android app.

If you have a Google Play Music All Access subscription you can now instantly stream tagged songs right from the Shazam app. If you don't already have a subscription, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial to see how you like it.

The updated Shazam app is available for download via Google Play.

Meanwhile on the music discovery front, Apple's iOS 8, which drops on Wednesday, includes new Shazam integration letting Siri identify the music around you and offer up the choice to purchase it via iTunes.

Shazam last month also launched a new Mac app, which listens to music being played around the computer, identifies the songs, and creates a playlist as it goes. Besides just naming your new favorite jams, the Mac app lets you access lyrics, music videos, and iTunes listings with a single click.
