I don't do 5 star ratings because really "... love it?" I love this backpack. It's light, strong, snug and thinner than I thought it would be loaded. I carry a Surface 3 laptop, a 12.9 iPad Pro, Bose headphones, a Plantronics headset, the laptop charger and all the other various cords in an Amazon Basics zip case and a tilt stand for my laptop. The bag doesn't have a suspension pocket for the laptop, but everything fits snugly and feels well-padded and secure. I've dropped it a couple of times with no issue. The straps are comfortable even with this load and it feels balanced. The extra pockets for phone, keys, meds whatever are thoughtfully designed and don't bulge out when loaded. I've got all my stuff in it right now and it's maybe 8 inches thick so it goes under an airline seat and I can shove my toes underneath it and stretch a little. The water bottle pocket fits your standard water bottle no issue, and holds it securely. The shell is water resistant to even a drenching rain storm. The shell fabric wears well - I've had it a year now and it looks basically new. The strap to go around your luggage handle is almost too snug - you have to stretch it to get it on, but it holds tight and doesn't make my carry on fall over, so props there. I have one quibble and it's a small one. The fabric is sufficiently flexible that you have to use two hands to close the top zippers. If you try to pull with one hand the zipper folds. Given everything else they got right I'm sticking with 5 stars.

The Perfect Laptop Bag
I have had numerous laptop bags over the years. Some with tons of space for storing almost anything I thought I wanted to have with me. In the end, I would find things a year later buried in a pocket…never used and completely forgotten about. This laptop bag has ample space, a thin sleek design, and enough pockets and compartments to store necessary items. But its size limitation fosters a minimalist approach to defining “necessary items.”The overall quality of materials and build is exceptional. One of the best bags I have ever owned.One thing I like about this bag over others I have owned…it is rigid. When I it down…even without a laptop in it, it keeps its shape.

I almost forgot to mention my favorite part of this bag. The zippers are FREAKING incredible. It has the smoothest, most consistent zipper pull you will ever experience on all of the zippers that matter. You can open and close any of the 3 main pouches with 1 hand, around the corner, it doesn't matter. I was considering a Herschel pack as well.. bought both.. returned the Herschel almost immediately. Every single time I would go to open the pouch.. the zipper would get stuck at the corners of the backpack and I'd have to use 2 hands in multiple positions on the bag to open and close it. These zippers are insane.
2 things I'd change:
1) the bottle pouch is smaller than I would like. It can barely fit a 1L Smart water bottle for reference or an 18oz water flask. I guess it fits the compact nature of the backpack.
2) the pockets inside could be a lighter color to make it easier to find items quickly. It's hard to see a black pocket in a half-opened bag.

I'd probably give this a 4.5, if half-stars existed. I'm 36 and going to graduate school. I have a few massive textbooks that stay at home, but this serves my purposes for going to and from school. I take my 15" Dell XPS 9510 with me, my iPad Pro 12.9", a couple of notebooks and some laptop accessories. I did take a 2.5" wide textbook to the library one day.. but it was a very tight fit and I had to remove the notebooks. At the end of the day though.. if what you need is a comfortable bag to transport some things too and from work or class, this will serve you very well. The reason its actually NICE to have a bit of a smaller (its thinner, back to front) backpack is that it's more maneuverable. I can pick up my bag from the passenger seat of the car and get it in front of me (past the steering wheel) with zero effort. It is thin, so it stays closer to my back, unlike a packed-out Jansport which puts the center of gravity further away from me. The materials feel really nice. But the real reason I bought this was that I got a color I would not have otherwise picked (Olivine) for $75! Was discounted to $99 with a $25 coupon. Crazy deal. In any event, the greenish-brown color stands out and I never mistake anyone else's bag for mine and vice versa.
