The Infant Optics DXR-8 PRO video baby monitor is our most advanced monitor yet. As a parent, you want digital security without internet connectivity for an added layer of protection against hackers that may be able to access your camera over the internet. Operating on 2nd-generation FHSS frequency in a closed-loop system that does NOT utilizes your home WiFi, only YOU can see and hear your baby. The DXR-8 PRO features cutting edge features such as Active Noise Reduction (ANR), a high definition display, and interchangeable lenses. ANR is an option that can be toggled on or off to filter any background noise such as fans, air conditioners, humidifiers, and air purifiers, that are commonly heard on baby monitors as 'static noise'. When it comes to video clarity, the monitor features a 5" ultra-clear LCD display at 720P resolution with enhanced night vision. The three-step digital zoom can be operated with the optical zoom lens (included) so that you can zoom in to see your baby sleeping in 6x zoom without causing the pixelation and blurring seen on other monitors. All functions are controlled on our next-generation user interface. Dedicated volume and brightness controls on the top of the monitor unit. Brightness of the LED lights (power and LED sound bar) can be dimmed so it won't shine your room bright at night. Standard features such as two-way talk back, sleep mode, night vision included. Monitor wakes instantly from sleep mode with a press of any button. Pair with portable battery pack (sold separately) for up to 24 hours battery life. I purchased this baby monitor in December 2020 before my first child was born. I love that it doesn't connect to wifi so there is no chance of hacking into it. The monitor remains connected with a clear picture even out in our yard, and the battery life on the monitor is excellent. The picture on the Pro is very clear, and I like the background noise cancellation feature so I don't hear the sound machine in baby's room. I have recommended this product to many soon-to-be moms. When pregnant with my second child, we ordered an additional camera to connect to the same monitor. After a few weeks, the cameras began frequently disconnecting from the monitor. It is easy to pair, but I typically wouldn't realize it wasn't connected until both kids were already asleep (cue sneaking into their rooms and hoping the loud "connected" beep wouldn't wake them). I contacted customer service, and there was no troubleshooting that could fix that issue. Even though my monitor was 19 months out of warranty, they sent me a new monitor for free, and I'm back to loving this product! It works great with toggling between the two rooms so I can hear if either kid needs us during the night. I highly recommend this product!

Impressive - way better than Nanit!

This camera is heavenly! As a first time mom I wanted the best and most reliable monitor and this is it!
I haven't tried the original model so I can't say if this is better.

I initially wanted a wifi monitor and purchased the Nanit but it was horrible. Even with upgraded wifi the camera still buffered and was very grainy. It was EXTREMELY annoying having to use the app and keep it open at all times on my phone...so if I wanted to see baby I couldn't do anything else on my phone. There was a loud buzzing sound (from AC?) that couldn't really be heard in the room but was super loud through the monitor.

Enter the Infant Optics DXR-8 PRO! This camera/monitor was the answer to ALL the issues with the Nanit and all my concerns.

Pros:
-The picture is crystal clear. Night vision is also really good.
-The camera covers the whole room as I am able to use the arrows on the monitor screen to move the camera
- Zoom is good ( I don't really use this much to be honest)
-ANR is AMAZING. We use a very loud fan in lieu of a sound machine and it cannot be heard AT ALL through the monitor
- Connection is great. I never had an issue with range even through concrete walls.
- Monitor is a decent size, can adjust sound and brightness.
- Monitor can be used on "sleep mode" where the screen goes off but the sound is still heard. (to be fair I don't actually use this I keep the screen on at all times on the lowest brightness).
- Monitor charges quickly and makes a very loud noise (not annoying, just a loud chime) when charge is low, giving enough time to run for the charger!
- I feel very confident in this monitor and don't worry about glitches or the screen shutting off. I used it a lot for day time naps to get comfortable before tacking an entire night. Something I worried about with the nanit in the event that my phone died or wifi dropped

Cons:
- there is a second or 2 sound delay but this is not an issue for me.
- monitor in "sleep mode" isn't sound activated so if baby cries I have to press the button so see the screen
- temperature is off by a lot..shows as 5-7 degrees hotter compared to the Nanit which is accurate ( the only thing I like about the Nanit lol)
- there is a slight delay when using the talk button on the monitor screen. I mainly use this to communicate with my husband if he is with baby or vice versa. There is a delay in hearing the sound when the talk button is released
- The camera doesn't have a chargeable battery, it just plugs in. I didn't think this was an issue until we had a storm and no electricity for more than 12 hours :/

The main downside to a non-wifi monitor is not being able to check in on baby from work but we still have the nanit and nanny cams so it's not really an issue.

I highly recommend this camera - it will definitely give you peace of mind :)

I am using this monitor with 2 cameras and it does a great job - clear picture and sound quality, easy to use, lots of customizable settings (like 24 hour format and temperature in C), and a much further reach than a previously owned Motorola camera, so I can go in my garden without loosing signal. This is not a split screen, but cycles through the cameras (you can customize time intervals) what works really well in practice - for some reason I was set on a split screen for the second baby, but that is really not needed.

After using it for close to 2 years the parent unit went out on me, showing only a black screen while the sound still worked. I was able to get it going again after reconnecting the cameras, but the fix did not last long and it went black again. I reached out to customer service, and Emma C has been nothing but amazing. I got a reply within 10 minutes of my first request with detailed troubleshooting instructions. There was some back and forth and Emma always replied promptly. When the instructions only got the monitor back to life for a short time, I was offered a replacement unit which arrived the next day. I only had to pay shipping for the return of my original unit - InfantOptics is pretty adamant to get the broken unit back, what is understandable as otherwise people might get a replacement and sell the broken unit on ebay. Very pleased with the experience - highly recommend.

I wanted to buy a monitor that was secure and I wouldn't have to worry about the feed being hacked. This baby monitor serves that function wonderfully given the unique setup. This is one product I would recommend to friends and family. The camera is small and highly portable. The video quality during both night and day is well defined. I especially enjoy the remote maneuverability and zooming aspects, so if my little one rolls around, I can track her without any issues. Although I haven't needed to use it much, the two way talk options offers good voice quality and is clear.

The little monitor is durable and works perfectly. I've dropped it multiple times on different surfaces by accident and haven't had any resulting issues.

Overall, it's a really good product and is worth the price. I've had multiple occasions where my little one would cover her face with the blanket, and having this monitor ensured there were no adverse consequences as a result.

We went with this camera after suffering through disconnects and unreliable monitoring with the Arlo baby -- just had to eliminate the possible factor of the internet connection (although we have a fast internet connection, but the Arlo just wouldn't stay connected) and any possible security issues with wifi-connected devices. This camera is pretty basic, easy to operate, and the Active Noise Reduction feature performs well. The only cons are: video resolution/clarity not as good compared to the Arlo (especially if you zoom in), not sure if the temperature gauge is completely accurate, and we have to make sure the monitor battery is fully charged before going to bed or it may not last 7-8 hours overnight. None are showstoppers, and we are in general happy with the camera.
