“When we first started Beni, the intention wasn’t to start a company. It was to solve this [sustainability] problem, and AI has been a great tool to be able to do that.” - Sarah Pinner cofounder of Beni Check out how resale startup and Google for Startups Accelerator: Circular Economy alumni Beni has used Google resources and AI to help make second-hand shopping easier than ever: https://lnkd.in/ggYR4775 #AcceleratedWithGoogle #EarthWeek

Which of these myths do you find yourself dispelling most often?
Recently, a friend asked me what I do for a living. When I said I run a startup, he responded, "Oh wow, that must be fun, working on new tech ideas and raking in tons of investor money." That conversation made me realize just how many myths and misconceptions there are about startups. Let me break down a few: Myth 1: You need a brand-new, innovative idea. Truth is, you don't have to start with something completely new to succeed. Look at Facebook or Google; they weren't the first in their fields, but they excelled by iterating and refining their services until they found the perfect market fit. Myth 2: Startups are all about tech. While tech can be a game-changer, it's just one tool in the arsenal. A startup can thrive without chasing the latest tech trend, like AI or blockchain. What's important is how you use technology to support and grow your business. Myth 3: You need to raise lots of money. Sure, venture capital can give you a leg up, but it's not the only way. GitHub didn’t take investment until four years in, and Ahrefs has grown to $100M ARR entirely without external funding. Myth 4: The startup life is always relaxed and fun. While startups often have a creative and energetic vibe, they also demand long hours and hard work. Most are understaffed, with employees wearing multiple hats, which can be both challenging and stressful. So, the next time someone thinks that the startup world is all about cool tech and easy money, keep in mind it's much more grounded in reality. The excitement lies in overcoming real-world challenges and seeing your vision come to life.

Google Cloud is the new place for startups to build with AI. In fact more than 60% of all funded generative AI startups, and nearly 90% of today’s generative AI “unicorns” (those valued over $1 billion) are Google Cloud customers. At Cloud Next we are announcing 25+ exciting new startup customers ike Higgsfield, OctoAI, Ohalo Genetics, Writer and more. We are also launching a new partnership with Nvidia to help early stage startups more quickly build with technology from both Nvidia and Google Cloud.
