Dear professional, Please Seek Professional Development in your Career Journey ☺️ It can be in the form of courses, videos, professional learning communities etc. It will shock you how it can transform your job into a job you actually really enjoy doing 😊 NO ONE PERSON IS A HOLDER OF ALL KNOWLEDGE IN A PARTICULAR FIELD/AREA AND SO, ENGAGING WITH OTHER PROFESSIONALS DURING YOUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT JOURNEY WILL EXPOSE YOU TO KNOWLEDGE FROM OTHER PROFESSIONALS. The joy in one's professional sometimes comes with the professional development you indulge in on that journey. Sometimes, the restrictions of the job can make it a very boring journey. As a teacher, this is impacted on your students. As you learn new and innovative ways to make your class lively, you realize that covering the entire syllabus is NOT more important than making your learners enjoy the learning process and then understanding the contents of the lessons very well. Even if the content is little compared to the entire work that needs to be done. I look at my learners now and see how interested they are in learning even 1 new word and its meaning, synonym and antonym in a lesson and I smile 😊 Learners who were timid in class are now interested in reading aloud and graciously accept corrections together with the whole class because as a teacher, you have learnt to make learning and correction of errors a very motivating, meaningful and impactful one 😊 I HAVE LEARNT THAT NO LEARNER IS "DUMB OR STUPID". It's the environment at home, in school and in your interactions with them that most times determine how they reach their desired learning outcomes. I look at some of my students now and I want to APOLOGIZE TO MY FORMER STUDENTS😂NOT BECAUSE I DIDN'T TEACH THEM WELL BUT BECAUSE I TEACH MY CURRENT STUDENTS BETTER 😊😂 PS: SOME OF MY PAST STUDENTS HAVE BEEN ADMITTED INTO UNIVERSITIES THIS YEAR TO STUDY DIPLOMA AND DEGREE COURSES SO I THINK IT'S SAFE TO SAY I AND MY COLLEAGUE TEACHERS AT MY SCHOOL CONTRIBUTED OUR QUOTA IN THEIR EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY ☺️

My brain is weird. This morning it occurred to me that transitioning out of education is a lot like working on a jigsaw puzzle. I'd say, "hear me out"....but instead I will go with "read on." 1. Choosing the Puzzle (Deciding to Leave Teaching): Like picking a puzzle that catches your eye, deciding to leave teaching is like saying, “Yep, that 1000-piece image of a sunset over Venice? That's my next big thing.” 2. Flipping Over the Pieces (Exploring What’s Out There): Before diving in, you flip all the pieces to see the colors and shapes. It's like scanning the non-teaching world and thinking, “Wow, so many options, so many colors outside the classroom!” 3. Finding the Edge Pieces (Identifying Your Skills): Just like how finding the corner and edge pieces gives a sense of the puzzle’s border, figuring out your transferable skills frames your new career path. It's a bit like realizing, “Hey, I can totally do more than wrangle a classroom of third graders!” 4. Connecting the Edge Pieces (Making Initial Changes): This is where you start putting those edges together, much like updating your LinkedIn profile or dusting off that resume. It’s all about laying the groundwork. 5. Working on Different Sections (Diving into Opportunities): Like tackling different parts of the puzzle, this is about exploring various roles. It’s the “Let’s see if I fit into this corporate piece or maybe that funky start-up section.” 6. Dealing with Tricky Pieces (Navigating Challenges): Every puzzle has those pieces you swear belong in another box. Similarly, you’ll find roles and paths that seem right but just don’t fit. It's a bit like trying on a pair of jeans that looked great on the hanger but just aren't right. 7. The Puzzle Coming Together (Seeing Your New Path Take Shape): Slowly but surely, as more pieces find their place, you see the big picture forming. It’s that “Aha, so this is what I’m meant to do!” moment. 8. Placing the Last Piece (Completing the Transition): That final puzzle piece is like the day you fully embrace your new role outside education. It's a mix of “I did it!” and “What do I do with all this free time now?” So, fellow educators and transitioners, remember: it’s okay if the pieces don’t fit right away, and sometimes, you might have to try a few different sections before it all clicks. But hey, that’s the fun part, right?

#CareerChanges, especially into #Teaching, often come with a string of misconceptions that can be quite off-putting. 😔 However, when you dig a little deeper, you'll find that these myths couldn't be further from the truth. Let's bust some of these common myths about changing careers: Myth 1️⃣: "It's too late to start a new career." The truth? It's never too late to follow your passion. Age can bring with it a wealth of experience and a unique perspective, both of which are incredibly valuable in teaching. Myth 2️⃣: "You need a degree in #Education to become a teacher." Fact check: While having an education degree is useful, there are multiple paths to become a qualified teacher. Postgraduate certification programs, on-the-job training, and other alternative routes make it possible for individuals from diverse backgrounds to transition into teaching. Myth 3️⃣: "Changing careers means starting from scratch." Not quite! Many skills are transferable across different fields. For example, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are as valuable in teaching as they are in any other profession. Myth 4️⃣: "I won't be able to keep up with the younger generation." Here's the truth: As an older professional, your life experience can provide a different and often beneficial viewpoint in the classroom. This can help you to connect with students in a unique and impactful way. So let's break down these walls of misconceptions and open up the path to your exciting new journey into teaching: https://lnkd.in/edGd5may 🔗🔗
