Interesting article on Adverting/Streaming with "Fox To Use Tubi Tech To Power Cross-Platform Ad Sales" I see this as another sign of the walls slowly tumbling down. Across #CTV and for that matter #RMN, I see an ongoing tug of war between walled garden approaches and more open systems (just like we see playing out in Digital). It's not clear cut, but I do see what could be walled gardens (Netflix, Disney, Fox), deriving interesting revenue streams from beyond-the-wall tactics. A nickle from media (like Fox and Tubi), a dollar from a clean room (see Adobe's new RTCDP collaboration), a cut of social media tie-ins, integration with martech journeys, etc. Bit by bit the new ad mediums are seeing how difficult it is to build a closed ad platform / ecosystem and looking to extend their reach through various 3rd parties. I described this in the IDC #CMO futurescape where we predicted: "By 2025, 23% of walled garden vendor revenue will come from indirect sources" I don't know that the Googles, Amazons or Metas will suddenly open the floodgates any time soon.... but there is an undercurrent in the industry nudging towards open tools that are " easy, frictionless and effective"... we'll see where it lands in the coming years. #adtech #walledgardens,

boom - the ad business continues to move to digital, away from linear and more traditional ways of assaulting your eyeballs. bust - admen are getting craftier and pushing editorial boundaries more and more. This ad on the DailyMail.com caught my discerning eye. It is an ad, not an editorial, or as it is known an #advertorial. Although I have not seen one like this before, so subtle. echo - stuff needs to be paid for, stuff needs to be purchased, or cool things like cat videos on YouTube, dancers in unison on TikTok, still (but maybe not for long) relatively cheap monthly prices on Netflix and other streamers will go away. #advertising #retail #retailmedia Amazon
