- [Instructor] The type on magazine covers, especially fashion and lifestyle magazine covers, tends to surround the model, perhaps just to one side if the model is off-centered, or on both if the model is centered. Left aligned on the left and right aligned on the right. there should be a clear hierarchy conveyed by the size and positioning of the type blocks. Perhaps the color of the type can be suggested by the image. In my example, the type is densely stacked. I'm using auto leading but I have dramatically reduced the auto leading percentage from its default value of 120. I've chosen a condensed sans serif typeface, Rift Soft in all caps which allows me to fit the type tightly together. I have three sizes, large, medium, and small and I've created paragraph styles for them. These reinforce the hierarchy and are created using the Based On feature.
