- If you've looked for a job in the past decade or so, you've surely heard people talking about the ATS or applicant tracking system. In a nutshell, it's software that sits at the front end of most hiring processes and allows companies to scan resumes for certain skills, experience, and education, allows them to assess talent, and effectively manage candidates through the interview process. In terms of making sure your resume is ATS friendly, here are the four most important things to know. First, keywords matter. Including keywords on your resume that align directly with the jobs you're targeting may help you appear as a strong match when a recruiter searches their database for candidates. Now, I don't recommend keyword stuffing. So if you're an engineering project manager and you mention engineering project manager 39 times in your resume, it's going to read a little bit strangely, and it could jeopardize your candidacy.…
