Sr Materials Engineer

Talascend is currently seeking a Sr Materials Engineer for a contract opportunity located in Estherwood, LA. Onsite 5 days/week during training. Possible Hybrid after.

OVERVIEW:

Use your knowledge of materials engineering to plan for the most cost-effective utilization of materials. You will work with cross functional teams to recommend engineering and manufacturing improvements to attain design objectives in the most economical manner possible. You will work to determine the appropriate materials needed to achieve successful completion of initiatives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cost effective materials planning.
• Applies material science knowledge.
• Recommend changes to attain objectives.
• Reviews blueprints.
• Reviews specifications.
• Determines appropriate material levels.
  
  

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
• 2+ years in Should cost, Manufacturing OR Materials management.
• 2+ years of experience using Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  
  

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Established knowledge of the field's standards and specifications.
• Experience in manufacturing or materials engineering.
• Excellent computer literacy.
• Ability to focus on important information and identify key details.
• Capability of following guidelines and ensuring efficiency on tasks.
• Application of basic material engineering techniques to optimize manufacturing processes.
• Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision.
• Willingness to consistently take the initiative to get things done.
