JOB DESCRIPTION

The Facilities Engineer is charged with overseeing the daily management of construction operations including planning layouts, engineering designs, procurement, cost tracking, inventory management, repairs and maintenance programs, and health/safety/environmental/regulatory adherence. The Facilities Engineer is involved in all phases of projects starting with project cost planning and working with regulatory and land team members to obtain optimal surface and right-of-ways for access and pipelines. The Facilities Engineer works with drilling, completions, and production engineers to ensure timely construction of surface production facilities which are needed to produce oil and gas with the specifications required for transportation and sales. Responsibilities continue after construction with asset integrity and maintenance program oversight. The Facilities Engineer is an integral member of the Area Asset Team and works in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Design facilities and manage installation with field construction operations.
  • Communicate with marketing and legal to establish and construct interconnects for oil, gas, and water
  • Work in conjunction with construction operations staff to ensure production target dates and cost controls are met.
  • Work with reservoir engineers to determine anticipated volumes and provide input on project economics
  • Collaborate with regulatory to reduce operating costs through commingling
  • Partner with production engineers to optimize production by debottlenecking facilities
  • Work together with construction and operation personnel in the field to maintenance and preserve asset integrity
  • Responsible for cost containment and regulatory compliance in concert with EHS personnel.
  • Recommend and procure appropriate surface equipment for hydrocarbon handling and processing.
  • Interface with Land, Accounting, Geology, Regulatory and other departments to coordinate the daily operations of producing oil and gas wells.
  • Work closely with management to meet financial, production and other corporate goals.
  • Proactively improve technical skills and stay up to date with new technology through training, attendance at industry meetings and development of effective relationships both internal and external to the Matador organization.
  • Travel required to accomplish above.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering, or like degree and experience
  • Knowledge of petroleum engineering operations and production methods for oil and natural gas recovery.
  • Preferred 6-10 years industry experience with 3+ years of Production/Facilities Engineering experience.
  • Permian Basin or other oil producing basin a plus.
  • Professional Engineer License a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) for interface with company management and field personnel.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and a multitude of engineering tools including the likes of economic evaluation, hydraulics, production engineering models a plus.
