The Senior Instructional Designer develops training assets, including but not limited to manuals and job aids, videos, instructor-led training, performance simulation, and virtual-web-based training based on high-level design specifications for the IHOP organization.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire and maintain in-depth knowledge of IHOP brand identity and product standards and standard operating procedures.
  • Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
  • Apply standardized training development methodology and adult learning principles to the design of training materials.
  • Plan, prioritize, design, deliver, and evaluate training and development programs by utilizing blended learning methods (instructor-led, e-learning, video, etc.) to support company and department stratetgic initiatives.
  • Write user-friendly, engaging copy about operational processes and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials for all operations enhancement strategies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional team reviews and approvals for training deliverables.
  • Complete reviews and quality assurance checks of all materials prior to final sign off.
  • Support instructional design projects by coordinating print requirements and specifications with print vendors.
  • Oversee cascade and implementation of new and updated training materials, ensuring processes are in place.
  • Research and implement the latest training delivery technologies including video and interactive media.
  • Adhere to established timelines to deliver training assets and update smartsheet project tracker.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with managers and peers within the organization.
  • Follow company policies, uphold professional standards, and perform all work in a manner respectful of others.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed.

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following industries: Hospitality, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Management, or Human Resources.
  • 2 - 4 years of progressive training and development experience with demonstrated accomplishments in the areas of the ADDIE model; implementation including technical skills, customer service, and leadership development.
  • Minimum 2-year experience with eLearning tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.
  • Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, including Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro.
  • Full understanding of all phases of training development process and adult learning principles.
  • Video production and editing skills including: scripting, scene blocking, talent direction, camera operation, sound, and lighting.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, managing multiple projects at different points in their lifecycles.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in planning and organizing – forward thinking to establish an efficient and appropriate course of action in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to be flexible with change and help manage change.
  • Food service and/or hospitality industry training experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work setting to attend in-person meetings, white board sessions, food shows, photo and video shoots, team building events, company meetings, and other events.
  • Starting Salary: $90,000
