The Health Economist will be responsible for the application of economic principles to planning, designing, and conducting economic studies of public health activities. These services include design and conduct of economic impact research, including economic modeling and simulation.

About the position:
TJFACT is seeking a Health Economist III to support the CDC’s Division of Cancer Prevention and Control and Statistical support to the Office of Director (OD), National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP) in Atlanta, GA!
The Health Economist will be responsible for the application of economic principles to planning, designing, and conducting economic studies of public health activities. These services include design and conduct of economic impact research, including economic modeling and simulation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conceptualize and plan 4 research studies using NBCCEDP and CRCCP program data.
- Conduct extraction, manipulation, and linking of data from multiple sources, including NBCCEDP and CRCCP program data, cancer surveillance data, and other publicly available datasets (e.g., Community Health Survey).
- Conduct analysis using advanced econometric and statistical techniques for 4 research projects.
- Conceptualize and conduct 1 analysis project related to breast, cervical, and/or colorectal cancer screening using the Marketscan dataset.
- Develop 3 models for predictive analysis of data using statistical, mathematical, and simulation modeling approaches.
- Conduct 2 modeling and simulation studies to determine intervention cost effectiveness for the NBCCEDP and/or CRCCP programs.
- Draft the methods, results, and discussion sections for 6 written manuscripts for publication based on research studies.
- Economist must have a PhD in a quantitatively oriented discipline such as Health Economics, Health Service and Outcomes Research, or an applicable field of study, and five (5) years of relevant experience applicable to requirements as described in this project, including the following:
- Background, both academic and practical, in the field of health economics.
- Knowledge of public health principles.
- Mastery of principles, methods, theory, and techniques of health economics that enable the contractor to execute advanced health economic studies.
- Experience leading health economic studies.
