Due to a retirement of a tenured employee, automotive supplier is seeking a Quality Manager to lead the quality team and report to the Vice President. The Quality Manager will be responsible for managing the quality group and overseeing the daily operations and improvement of the site quality systems. As the Quality Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Motivating, coaching and developing the quality staff
- Maintaining and improving the IATF quality management system
- Leading and completing root cause analysis within a team environment and initiating countermeasures
- Communicating with customers on the status of quality concerns and corrective actions
- Owning the PPAP and APQP documentation for multiple sites
- Resolving customer and supplier quality issues
- Representing the location as the lead quality professional for all internal and external audits
- Completing quality analysis and reports
- Overseeing the quality lab activities and schedules
- Championing IATF certification and compliance processes
- Supporting containment and processing of customer supplier performance records
- Working with sales and warehousing on packaging and compliance
- Other duties as directed by management
There will be minimal time spent on the manufacturing floor; candidates will primarily work in an office environment and support other manufacturing sites from their assigned location. Candidates should enjoy working in a team environment, have excellent problem solving skills, be patient and have excellent internal and external customer communication skills. Individuals must be willing to travel up to 15%; international travel to Mexico, Japan and Canada as needed. This is a salary, exempt position with the opportunity to work HYBRID once trained.
REQUIREMENTS for the Quality Manager:
1. Bachelor's degree is preferred; high school diploma or GED is required
2. At least 3-5 years in a similar lead quality position, with 5-10 years of manufacturing experience
3. Experience performing quality engineering functions in an automotive supplier and/or heavy truck supplier environment
4. Working knowledge of APQP and PPAP documentation
5. Strong working knowledge of RCA and corrective actions
6. Experience directly communicating with customers on the status of quality
7. Formal problem solving skills
8. Experience giving others daily direction
9. Willing to travel to Mexico and/or Japan up to once per year
10. Microsoft Office
Skills preferred but NOT required:
1. Quality certifications
2. Six Sigma and/or Lean certifications
3. Supervision of others
4. Metalworking experience, such as machining, stamping, etc.
