Private Events Manager

POSTION OBJECTIVE

We are seeking a talented Private Events Manager to join Dōgon. We are elated to partner with renowned Chef Kwame Onwuachi. He is returning to the nation's capital to bring a bold and imaginative restaurant concept to Salamander Washington DC in Spring 2024. The Private Events Manager will be responsible for coordinating and executing all private events at our restaurant. You will work closely with clients to design bespoke experiences that reflect our restaurant's commitment to excellence. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, outstanding customer service skills, and extensive experience in event planning within a luxury or fine dining setting.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage all aspects of private events, from initial inquiry to event execution and follow-up.
  • Work with clients to plan and customize menus, décor, and event logistics in line with their vision and our restaurant’s standards.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen and service teams to ensure seamless delivery of food and beverage services.
  • Oversee the setup and breakdown of event spaces, ensuring they meet the restaurant’s high standards.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, providing exceptional service to ensure repeat business and positive referrals.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as contracts, billing, and event documentation.
  • Collaborate with marketing to promote private events and develop event packages.
  • Monitor event budgets, manage expenses, and optimize profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during events.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in event planning or management, preferably in a luxury or fine dining environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing high-end events.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for creating extraordinary guest experiences.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate event schedules.
  • Proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Michelin star standards and fine dining etiquette is strongly preferred.

  • Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment, communicate with others, effectively deal with customers and accept constructive criticism from supervisors.
  • Must be able to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions
