Brief Position Description

To provide engineering services and project management skills to implement various plant and capital projects to improve cement plant operations and profitability.

Nature and Scope

  • To help ensure a safe work environment for all employees, visitors and contractors by consistent application of plant safety rules, practices, and policies.
  • To comply with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • To participate on various plant teams to provide engineering resources and know-how.
  • To evaluate equipment and components to assure project requirements are met.
  • To coordinate and lead field representatives, contractors, and suppliers to ensure correctness and quality of projects, to include problem-solving.
  • To prepare capital project scope, cost estimates, justifications and cost control tracking to ensure budgetary compliance.
  • To communicate and coordinate project phases with appropriate plant and corporate departments.
  • To provide training to plant personnel on new equipment usage.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Evaluating the cost of a project or venture.
  • Ensuring component parts fit overall project design.
  • Revising plans to account for changed circumstances.
  • Planning a logical sequence of tasks or events.
  • Prepare specifications for a project.
  • Requiring work to be done to meet specifications.
  • Directing the implementation of a project.
  • Follow up with people to expedite implementation.
  • Ensuring work is completed within pre-specified budget.
  • Identifying design problems and evaluating the feasibility of a project.
  • Reviewing systems or processes for adequacy and compliance with regulations.
  • Checking all materials are available for a project.
  • Ensure that proper insurance, hold harmless and other documentation required for the protection of Argos, is in place before any vendors are permitted access to Argos property to begin work.
  • Preparation of SR/CR/ARs in accordance with Argos guidelines to attain project approval.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, confined space, outside weather conditions, low lighting, artificial lighting, and explosives. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

Qualifications

Experience/Skills Requirements:

  • Previous work experience in continuous manufacturing preferably in the cement industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative based on sound problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills via personal standards of conduct, work ethics, ability to delegate, etc.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Previous experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, Project Management, SAP, MS Outlook and CAD.
  • Leadership capabilities with supervisory/managerial career aspirations.
  • Flexible team player with strong inter-personal skills, with the ability to deal with human and technical adverse situations.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree preferably in mechanical engineering.
