Project Planner/Scheduler

CLASSIFICATION (FLSA): EXEMPT

COMPENSATION: $60,000-$90,000 Negotiable commensurate with experience.

REPORTS TO: Director of Programs

Summary/Objective

JOB DESCRIPTION

A Southcoast Welding and Manufacturing’s (SCWM) Project Planner/Scheduler is an integral part of the project management team. The Project Planner/Scheduler’s overarching responsibility is to provide planning and scheduling products, maintain project status information, and to support other Program operations required by the Director of Programs.

FUNCTIONS And DUTIES

  • Provide planning and scheduling products required by the customer.
  • Solicit weekly progress from production and update schedules for invoicing.
  • Actively participate in planning sessions.
  • Adhere to and promote ALL company safety policies. Wear all required PPE when in Production areas and promote a clean and safe work environment.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, And COMPETENCIES

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the planning and scheduling process.
  • Excellent communication and intrapersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite, WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK, and POWERPOINT.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to work in a group setting and independently to achieve project and SCWM goals.
  • Basic knowledge of government contracting.
  • Working knowledge of trade, QA, and Safety interdependencies

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, And COMPETENCIES

  • Working knowledge of the ship repair industry.
  • Working knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items.
  • Basic understanding of Project Management.
  • Basic knowledge of Earned Value analysis.
  • Rudimentary ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The Project Planner/Scheduler must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, which includes periodically touring the job site to validate status and progress. Projects sites generally refers to a Navy ship. Touring a ship can include walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, climbing, and crouching. The PP must be able to access any place on the jobsite where work is being accomplished which may include using vertical ladders, accessing scaffolding, and entering confined spaces.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY

The Project Planner/Scheduler is not a supervisory position.

POSITION TYPE / HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time salary (exempt) position. The salary is based on a 40-hour work week. SCWM’s basic work schedule is Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., but this is subject to change depending on the needs of the project. Overtime and weekend work is required based on the needs of the project.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, And CREDENTIALS

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Able to secure a DBIDs
  • Able to fluently read, speak, and understand English
  • Seven plus (7+) years of experience in the ship repair or other construction industry, 2 years of which in a planning and scheduling capacity.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, And CREDENTIALS

  • Certificate(s) in relevant industry disciplines
  • Fluent in a second language, especially Spanish
  • Five years of shipboard work experience
  • Experience with OPEN PLAN

Other

Duties and responsibilities can change at any time advance without notice. The Program Director may assign other planning and scheduling related duties necessary to the success of the project.
