Salary: $70K - $90K
**NYC Hybrid Requirement: This role requires 2 days in the office per week**
Due to expansion, this leading healthcare advertising agency is looking for an addition to the
editorial department.
We’re looking for a minimum of 1 year (preferably 2+ years) editorial experience in a
pharmaceutical ad agency, excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail. This is
an excellent opportunity to report to a director who has a strong track record of retaining staff.
Summary
Reporting into the Director of Editorial Services, the primary objective of the Medical Editor is to provided
editorial services and manage daily workflow on assigned projects.
Essential Functions
- Provide editorial review for all assigned projects, including copy-editing, fact checking, and
proofreading as needed
- Adhere to established agency and department processes to ensure quality and profitability
- Demonstrate ability and flexibility in organizing, prioritizing, and managing workload for multiple
projects simultaneously
- Ensure correct grammar, spelling, usage, and adherence to AMA style as well as product and
agency style sheets
- Edit all types of projects, both print and digital, with an eye towards verifying scientific accuracy,
audience appropriateness, scientific tone, and alignment with project goals
- Fact check data/information and verify accuracy/appropriateness of claims
- Become familiar with assigned products and the clients' objectives, including product information,
visual aids, pivotal trials, journal articles, and related promotional materials
- Attend start-up, hotsheet, and status meetings related to assigned brands/projects
- Be aware of project timelines and work closely with the project management team to ensure
deadlines are met
- Consult with team members and project management as issues arise to ensure the successful
completion of projects
- Keep Director informed of all activities and provide regular updates on the progress of ongoing
projects
- Create and maintain editorial style sheets for assigned brands
- Attend client process meetings on an as-needed basis
- Research and order references
- Organize and file references for each product in the Reference Library
- Assist Director with special projects on an as-needed basis
- Complete timesheets in a timely manner
Qualifications
- College graduate
- Pharmaceutical ad agency experience preferred – minimum 1 year, preferable 2+ years
- Strong grammar skills
- Experience editing medical content and knowledge of AMA style
- Team oriented
- Motivated
- Proactive
- Good interpersonal communication skills
