Marketing and Communications Coordinator

YSS is seeking a creative, passionate, energetic, motivated, Marketing and Communications Coordinator to join our team!

Responsibilities

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will conceptualize, create, and control the content and graphics aspects of print/digital marketing and communications for all of YSS. This will include designing marketing and event materials, managing YSS's websites and mass emails, ensuring adherence to brand identity standards, and supervising project production. This role requires a meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing marketing materials including newsletters, fliers, programs, posters, invitations, business cards, presentations, social media graphics, and swagusing established brand standards.
  • Collaborating with staff on project requests and translate their requirements into a design that meets their needs. Prepare drafts, make changes based on feedback, and keep the project on-task through completion.
  • Coordinating the production of print and electronic communications; work with printers/vendors to ensure successful delivery of materials.
  • Maintaining brand standards across the organization and serve as the expert on YSS’s brand identity.
  • Maintaining and update YSS’s websites, optimizing content for SEO.
  • Creating and distributing marketing emails; maintain and update YSS’s email database.
  • Photographing people and events; editing photos for print/web publication.
  • Assisting team in event planning, promotion, and execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in graphic arts, design, marketing, or related field.
  • Experience designing for print and web using specialized software such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Canva.
  • Experience planning and managing events of various scale.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and writing skills and the ability to initiate communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with email management systems such as Mailchimp
  • Experience with video production and editing, using specialized software.
  • Knowledge of social media and website content management systems.
  • Able to coordinate and collaborate with others, using a positive, team-based approach.
  • Ability to be creative, resourceful, and solve problems.

  • Multi-lingual, speak a language(s) in addition to English.

The YSS Hiring Process

  • Application - All applicants are required to complete an online application. The application is considered complete when all questions have been answered, all required documents (resume, waivers) have been submitted, and the application has been electronically signed.
  • Assessment – As they are received, applications are reviewed for education, experience, and licensure (if required). If the required qualifications are not met, the application will likely be declined.
  • Interview – Depending on the number of applications received, we may choose to do initial phone interviews. Otherwise, we will move directly to in-person or Zoom interviews.
  • References – Applicants moving forward after their interview are asked to submit three references, which YSS then contacts.
  • Pre-employment Screening – Applicants are required to submit background check waiver forms at the time they apply. YSS conducts a Single Contact Repository (SING) background check on all final candidates. All offers of employment at YSS are contingent upon clear results of the SING. The SING provides authorized organizations online access to Iowa Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry information held by the Department of Public Safety/Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Department of Human Services’ (DHS) Central Abuse Registry for Child Abuse (CA) and Dependent Adult Abuse (DAA), as well as Professional License information. YSS also requires a clean driving record for positions that provide transport. Verification will be done through the records of the state that issued the individual’s current license.
  • Offer – Applicants selected for hire will receive a formal offer of employment via email with instructions of how to reply.
  • New Hire Meeting - The offer email will provide details on how to set up this meeting. You must schedule and attend this meeting before you can begin working or getting paid.
