As Qurate Retail Group’s newest business unit, vCommerce Ventures is designed to accelerate our innovation in livestream commerce and establish our leadership in this space while also supporting the continued expansion of QVC’s and HSN’s linear video commerce (“vCommerce”) experiences to new audiences. vCommerce includes video-driven shopping across linear TV, ecommerce sites, digital streaming and social platforms. vCommerce Ventures brings together livestream commerce teams and initiatives from across QVC and HSN into a separate, global business unit, with dedicated marketing, business development, content development and production, programming, planning, and merchandising resources.

About The Role

Reporting to the VP, Streaming General Manager, the Head of Commerce (Director/ DMM) role is responsible for the build and execution of the Commercial & Merchandising Strategy for our QVC+/HSN+ Streaming Service, including the identification of new brand and retail partners that will delight and engage consumers, how we merchandise content to convert ‘watchers’ to ‘shoppers,’ and how we nurture and grow those partnerships to drive viewership and sales through strategic account management./

What You Will Do

Streaming Commercial & Merchandising Strategy

  • Build and own our Streaming Commercial & Merchandising Strategy, which will define our approach to Business Development, Buying, Planning and Account Management.
  • Identify brand, product and retail partner opportunities that will extend current QVC and HSN customers to further engage in Streaming and extend their buy rate.
  • Partner with Customer Strategy and Data & Analytics leadership to identify and develop new, high-growth merchandising opportunities enabled by our owned & operated Streaming Service.
  • Establish and own the P&L for the Streaming Service to deliver sales, margin, and probability as we migrate to be an independent entity and platform.
  • Build an attractive, compelling third-party brand value proposition that attracts sellers to partner with our team to develop and own their own compelling, unique channel that will be incremental to their current brick & mortar, eCommerce and/ or social channel channels.
  • Define the portfolio of new brand and retail partnerships and respective product assortment to deliver on financial targets.
  • Define our deal negotiation practices and manage all brand partnership negotiations with relevant internal and external partners.
  • Establish a net new Account Management strategy and function that will prospect and procure new brands and retailers to the Streaming Service.
  • Build the team that will consult on client needs and design & deliver third-party brand partnerships from end-to-end through effective onboarding and account management.
  • Cultivate a high-performing Commercial & Merchandising function through partnership with Data & Analytics to identify clearly established performance targets and KPIs that will measure success and drive sales.
  • Partner with cross-functional leadership teams (Content, Programming, Marketing, etc.) within Streaming business and client teams to develop and maximize key moments for our Merchandising Calendar.
  • Leverage our QRG Competency Model as their guide for leading and developing a talented team comprised of traditional Merchants & Buyers, Business Development leaders, Planners, and Account Managers.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business experience preferred
  • Minimum eight years’ experience in a retail environment, preferably leading a Merchandising Business Development or Buying team
  • Proven experience working in global brands, agencies, and/or eCommerce Merchandising platform's key accounts solutions. Proven experience working in a top FMCG consulting firm is a plus
  • Experience in Multimedia Sales & Marketing: Bring experience from digital commerce, especially in media and advertisement sales with platforms like Facebook/Meta, Google, or experience with retail accounts in advertising agencies.
  • E-commerce Platform Expertise: Possess strong background in digital commerce and managing sales through e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, highlighting an understanding of online sales dynamics.
  • Retail Media Network Experience: Have experience with retail media networks and leveraging them for advertising, partnership opportunities, and enhanced product visibility.
  • Strong capabilities in relationship building; Able to produce effective presentations and influence clients
  • Have a solid understanding of social/livestream e-commerce and content marketing
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to lead, direct and develop others
  • Ability to work with leaders and at various levels and in various departments
  • Focus on learning and growing skills of self and others
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to make decisions to achieve desired results. Ability to identify and respond to business opportunities and risks quickly
  • Ability to quickly analyze data and draw relevant conclusions to have positive effects on business in a complex business environment
  • Ability to work with budgets and effectively forecast business
  • Superior negotiation and persuasion skills

For New York City based roles only: The annual gross base salary range for this position is $157,500 - $253,800. Salary ranges are general guideline only, and actual salaries will vary and are based on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience and geographic location as well as business and market conditions.
