Job Description

As a valued colleague on our team, you will provide expert advice and insight on the use of various data sources to design and develop reports that meet required formats or expected standards and execute a reporting cadence. In this role, you will lead processes for verifying reports to ensure information is accurate and descriptive of the data, and that they fulfill the business need.

Responsibilities

The Financial Reporting Lead role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Develop optimized reporting timelines and requirements.
  • Develop and implement best practices to gather data and information for reports to be presented to internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Implement best approach to design and produce reports using information gathered.
  • Review reports for accuracy and timeliness, provide insightful analysis, and explain reporting results.
  • Research and implement new accounting standards under U.S GAAP and other public company regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to Financial Reporting.
  • Stay current with industry best practices to ensure consistent with industry benchmarks.
  • Communicate with external auditors as needed ensuring key deliverables are met.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Experiences

  • 4 years progressive experience in big-4 public accounting or financial reporting at a publicly traded company
  • Licensed CPA or equivalent, or CPA in process
  • Experience researching regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance with those requirements, particularly with respect to knowledge and understanding of GAAP and SEC requirements

Desired Experiences

  • Solid understanding of Fannie Mae’s business model with the ability to explain financial results in a meaningful way; must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand
  • Experience gathering accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questions
  • Skilled in the graphical representation of information in the form of a charts, diagrams, pictures, and dashboards with programs and tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Experience in the process of analyzing data to identify trends or relationships to inform conclusions about the data
  • Determining causes of operating errors and taking corrective action
  • Experience analyzing data to identify trends or relationships to inform conclusions about the data
  • Influencing skills including negotiating, persuading others, facilitating meetings, and resolving conflict
  • Working with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal
  • Experience analyzing data to identify trends or relationships to inform conclusions about the data
  • Skilled in Excel
  • Experience using accounting software such as Workiva and/or Workday (preferred)

Hybrid remote/in-office

The hiring range for this role is set forth on each of our job postings located on Fannie Mae's Career Site. Final salaries will generally vary within that range based on factors that include but are not limited to, skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant qualifications.
