Equipment Specialist Lead

We are looking for a Equipment Specialist Lead to join our Smartpress team in Duncan, South Carolina. You’ll be part of a talented group that collaborates to deliver world-class products to our customers. You will be responsible for planning the routine maintenance of and training aspects for equipment and develops strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel, and production processes. Your work goes beyond routine maintenance of production equipment into trouble-shooting and upgrades as required. In this role, you will also mentor and be a resource for the Machine Operator and Maintenance positions.

Shifts available: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (must have the flexibility to work extended hours as needed, including evenings and weekends to provide repair services as needed. This role is on call for 24/7)

A variety of these traits will help land you this job if you have:

  • a two year Degree or certificate from a vocational technical school
  • a minimum of 3 years experience in machine maintenance, preferably in a printing environment
  • previous work experience performing training for operations staff preferred

On top of that you must:

  • be able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills including, demonstrated listening skills and the ability to present ideas and thoughts concisely and effectively both internally and outside the organization
  • apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for handling tools, repairing machines and printing equipment and to review detailed reports and information
  • have the ability to lift tools and equipment up to 50 pounds
  • stand and walk to move around the plan area several hours throughout the day

In this position, you will:

  • onboard new equipment and leads the cross-functional team required to deliver, place, set-up equipment and utility needs, and program with Facilities, Color Management, and outside riggers and electricians for placement.
  • act as primary contact with equipment manufacturers.
  • coordinates electrical, compressed air, ventilation, and networking for printing equipment.
  • be responsible for printing press quality, uptime, and maintenance including training and best practice.
  • perform diagnoses of breakdown problems while minimizing equipment related downtime.
  • perform advanced troubleshooting, including performing tests that determine equipment manufacturers’ diagnoses of complex problems, and assists in identifying needed parts ahead of the arrival of the Field Engineer.
  • potentially need to travel at times to assess new assets or attend OEM factory training.
  • provide 24/7 phone support for Operators.
  • record equipment conditions, frequent problems, and service actions.
  • design, plan and implement maintenance strategies, procedures and methods.
  • order all ink supplies and parts for printers.
  • perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as requested by others in management
