- Under guidance of senior level engineers: Predictable development & launch of safe and effective complex electromechanical products to production which complies to CooperSurgical Design Control, NPI (New Product Introduction) requirements, and other applicable regulations & standards. Deploy robust development tools and identify critical parameters to optimize and predict key performance parameters.
- Detailed develop and design of sub-systems and components for electro-mechanical systems using engineering best practices, leveraging first principles, analytical modeling, and CAD.
- Create adequate design inputs (product requirements) and outputs (design specifications), help to define technical strategies for an effective verification and validation approaches and drive development of corresponding test methods and fixtures.
- Application of critical thinking and systematic approach to complex problem solving and convergence to creative solutions on a timely manner.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree.
- Post graduate degree desirable.
- 2-5+ years relevant experience
- Proficiency with engineering first principles and analytical methods including structural and fluid mechanics – required.
- Proficiency with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and robust design development. Ability to identify critical parameters from voice of customers and quantify sensitivities along with plan to predict performance with statistical and / or engineering tools – preferred.
- Expertise in CAD modeling (SolidWorks (primary) and/or Creo), mechanical design and creation of engineering drawings including GD&T – required.
- Medical device development experience with thorough understanding of design control guidelines including verification and validation methods – preferred.
- Understanding of statistical methods including design of experiments and tools like Minitab – required.
- Hands-on craft skills and experience with building, fixing, servicing and/or fabricating concepts, fixtures, prototypes or similar – required.
- Experience with complex electro-mechanical, robotic, or digital systems – Preferred.
- Experience with thermo-fluidic systems and transport phenomena – preferred.
- Experience with FEA and/or CFD mathematical modeling – preferred.
