Position Overview

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) invites candidates to submit application materials for consideration as needs arise for Graders during the fall 2024 and spring 2025 semesters.

Job Description

100% Duties include grading homework and other work performed by students in various EECS courses. The number of hours per week is dependent upon the number of students enrolled in the course.

Position will be terminated if KU GPA falls below the required minimum of 3.0.

Required Qualifications

  • During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students.
  • Current student in the EECS department or closely related discipline;
  • Successful completion with a grade of at least a B in the EECS course or equivalent you wish to grade;
  • Maintain a minimum KU GPA of 3.0.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful completion at KU with a grade of A in the EECS course you are assisting with;
  • Be a student in the EECS department.


Additional Candidate Instructions

A completed application consists of the online application and a clear indication of which course/s you qualify for and would like to grade. You must CLEARLY indicate the course/s in your application materials; failure to do so will disqualify you for a position.

PLEASE INCLUDE THE COURSE NUMBER AND NAME (EX: EECS 388 EMBEDDED SYSTEMS)

This is a POOL position to hire multiple Graders. Application review begins May 29, 2024. Applications will continue to be accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis throughout the academic year (fall 2024 and spring 2025). Only one application is needed per academic year.

Advertised Salary Range

$14.00-$15.00 hourly depending on qualifications and experience.

Work Schedule

Flexible up to 20 hours weekly depending upon student schedule.
