Role Overview

The Director of Origination will be responsible for the management and deliverables of a Land Acquisition Team, as well as a small team of administrative professionals based in the Denver, CO headquarters. The Director will lead national land acquisition effort, including land campaign strategies and lease negotiations, across multiple markets for Pivot Energy, ensuring a pipeline of viable sites for solar and energy storage development. This position will require coordinated interaction with the Project Development, Policy, Engineering, GIS, as well as other teams. Success in this role will require an exceptional ability to form strong interdepartmental relationships and experience managing high-performing professionals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage a national team of Territory Managers and administrative professionals through the full life cycle, from entering a new market through lease execution
  • Develop and lead lease negotiation strategy, providing ongoing support and coaching to Territory Managers
  • Support Territory Managers with on-site visits to landowners and land sites as needed to assist in lease execution
  • Collaborate with team members to devise new land campaign strategies dependent on demographics and market conditions, including direct mailings, digital outreach, and direct solicitation
  • Coordinate and implement training for new and current staff members, optimizing for continuous learning, innovation, and ongoing skill development
  • Design operating procedures to standardize, improve, and streamline processes
  • Maintain Land Origination data in Pivot’s CRM (Salesforce)
  • Create and run regular reports, documents, and communication related to all site initiatives
  • Monitor internal team activities to ensure compliance with Pivot Energy processes and applicable external regulations
  • Additional responsibilities as required


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • 5+ or more years of experience in land acquisition
  • 2+ years of people management, with a proven track record of supporting the development of high-performing teams
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey key ideas to landowners, stakeholders, and internal teams
  • General understanding of comprehensive solar development lifecycle
  • Experience and proficiency with leases, deeds, recording documents, LLC structures, trusts, and other respective real estate documentation
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, identify risks, and alert the company of any opportunities or challenges
  • Proficiency using Salesforce or a similar CRM, Google Suite, Asana, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel as needed, up to 25% of the time


PREFERRED COMPETENCIES

  • Supplemental education or certifications in real estate, title, and/or solar energy
  • Experience with GIS and mapping systems
  • Awareness of utility and state-specific policies to lead strategic land acquisition efforts

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $105,000-$175,000 depending on relevant experience, along with eligibility for a commission plan and the company’s substantial bonus plan, with a target bonus of 30% of annual salary (prorated in first year based on start date).
